Track of Grade 11 Students Theoretical framework • This research study is anchored on the theory the following proponents: • Careership: A Sociological Theory of Career Decision Making was proposed by PhilHodkinson and Andrew C. Sparkes. It states that Sociological Literature emphasizes the dominance of socially-structured pathways, whilst policy-making that operates on assumptions of individual freedom to choose careers. Also, it encapsulates the ways in which a person’s beliefs, ideas, and preferences are individually subjective but also influenced by the objective social networks and cultural traditions in which that person lives. Furthermore, it helps people to find the careers fit for them based on the different influences that surround them. • Social Cognitive Theory The Social Cognitive Theory was proposed by Albert Bandura. It was formerly called as the Social Learning Theory until it was developed by Bandura in 1986. The theory posits that career choice occurs in a social context with a dynamic and reciprocal interaction of the person, environment, and behavior. It emphasizes the social influence on the internal and external social reinforcement to a person’s career choice. Furthermore, the theory focuses on how people learn from individual experiences, the actions of others, and their interaction with their environment. It can be applied in different settings and populations. SCT provides opportunities for social support through instilling expectations, self-efficacy and using observational learning and other reinforcements to achieve behavior change. • Conceptual Framework The direction of the study is presented in Figure 1 using a flowchart. In this study, Grade 11 student serves as respondents. Their profile was surveyed including their gender, strand/track choice, NCAE result and the influences of assessment result, peer influence, family decision and teachers’ advice. Their views as regards the factors of Grade 11 students in choosing suited track is surveys using an adapted questionnaire. The researcher used statistical method to know if there is a significant relationship between the factors that help the grade 11 students decide for their chosen track when they are grouped according to their profile. The findings of the study serve as basis for enhancement of Career Guidance Program in Inosloban-Marawoy Integrated National High School.
