MEASURING
TOOLS
1. Tape Measure
•A flexible measuring
device used in taking
body measurements

tucks.

MARKING
TOOLS
1. Chalk Pencils/Dressmaker pencil

•used to make
fine lines on
fabric.
2. Liquid Marking Pen
•washes out and one that
fades after 48 hours
•The mark should be
removed before pressing
the fabric.
3. Tailor’s Chalk
•essential as a marker
for use on materials
•Removed by
brushing
4. Tracing Wheel
•serrated edge wheel
produces dots on the
fabric and is suitable for
most types of fabrics
•smooth edge wheel is
best for delicate fabrics
5. Dressmaker’s Carbon Paper
•a specially waxed
carbon paper that
transfer‘s the
tracing wheel‘s
markings to the
fabric.
