Rhythmic Activities

 Are merely physical responses of an individual, expressing


his emotional and mental response to rhythm. Every person
responds to rhythm through body movement. We move,
respond or react to various rhythm. This physical response
to rhythm stirs us with energy to move and dance.
Dance
 The word “dance” comes from the Greek word “danson” which
means to stretch.
 Dance step created from man’s basic movement: walk, run, jumps,
hop, skip, slide, leap, turn, and sway.
 Scope of dance:
1. Ballroom Dance
2. Character Dance (Tap Dance)
3. Classical Dance (Ballet)
4. Folk Dance
5. Modern Dance
Ballroom dance

 Sometime Called social or popular dancing usually


performed by couple for pleasure and satisfaction either in
private function or in public dancing hall.
Character Dance

 A style of ballet deriving inspiration from national or folk


dances, or interpreting and representing a particular
profession, mode of living, or personality. The movements
used tend to be less stylized than in classical ballet,
allowing greater individual expression and diversity.
Classical Dance (Ballet)

 An artistic dance form performed to music using precise and

highly formalized set steps and gestures. Classical ballet,

which originated in Renaissance Italy and established its

present form during the 19th century, is characterized by

light, graceful, fluid movements and the use of pointed shoes.


Folk Dance

 a popular dance, considered as part of the tradition or


custom of a particular people.
Modern Dance

 A free, expressive style of dancing started in the early 20th


century as a reaction to classical ballet. In recent years it
has included elements not usually associated with dance,
such as speech and film.
