 The circumstances
• I met the child and her parents at one occasion in person.
• My friend was also there with me because she was her mother’s
goddaughter.
• The child was really excited to see us.
• The mom was present while we did the exercises but the dad wasn’t.
• After we did the tests we went to a local playground and we played for two
hours with her.
  Her name is Eszti.
 During the time I did the tests with her, she was 4
Personal Data years and 2 months old.
 She doesn’t have any siblings. She lives with her
mother and father in the 16th district in Budapest.
 “Pregnancy”
• Eszti was adopted as a newborn.
• Eszti’s parents wanted to have a child for a really long time, but they
couldn’t have.
• They waited for 2 years until they got the opportunity to adopt Eszti. It
was a really stressful time for the mother.
• Her biological mother already had 3 adult aged children and she didn’t
want any more, and she thought that she is too old for raising a newborn
child.
• She had never met her biological mother, and the mother said that she
didn’t want to be in Eszti’s life.
• They raise Eszti, so that she knows she has been adopted.
 Eat/sleep

 Eszti sleeps around 10 hours sleep/day. Naps are very important for her. The
mother always waits until she wakes up on her own. She never cries when she
wakes up. The mother let Eszti to sleep alone after when she was 6 months old.
She started eating solid food when she was 8 months old. The mother read her
bed time stories every night and the baby never wake up in the middle of the
night. Now she is sleeping alone in her own room but she is afraid of dark so
they always plug a little night light in.

 Eszti eats 5 times a day, and the mother thinks cheese, yoghurt, and milk are the
most important proteins for her child. She doesn’t have any food allergies.

 The mother said that she use medication if the illness is serious, if it it isn’t she
use alternative methods.
 • The mother is satisfied with the child’ motor
development and she thinks the child’s development
is a little slower that the other kids.
• Eszti started walking at the age of 1 and talking at
the age of 2. Her hearing, speech, and vision is
perfect.
Move/psychomotor, • She can only speak Hungarian, but the mother often
cognitive development speaks to her in English because she is an English
teacher.
• She can identify shapes and colours but with little
difficulties.
• Her favourite activity is drawing. She is very
creative and imaginative.
 Emotional development/mood

 When Eszti is in a bad mood she gets stubborn. When she is seeking emotional
support, she keeps hugging people. When her need is rejected, she throws
tantrum. When her behavior is corrected, she tries to behave nicely.
 When her mother teach something new, she do it slowly and patiently.
 Eszti likes to play with other children. When she gets bored, she wants to play
with her parents.
 When Eszti witnessed her mother screaming she just watched it in complete
silence.
 The parents have a really strong bond with the child, and the mother thinks that
she and her husband equally have a good relationship with the child.

After the family drawing when I asked her to draw her
enchanted family, she said that she is bored, and she
didn’t want to draw more, and she wanted to go to the
playground.
She went to the playground with bicycle alone without
help.
