Underwater Inspection

In Lieu of Drydocking (UWILD)

Classification Society
 Responsible to verify marine structures compliance with regards to design, construction
and periodic survey against Rules (IACS).

 Noncompliance with the Rules and the recommendations will result with class
suspension or cancellation.

Dry-dock

 A narrow basin or vessel that can be flooded to allow a load to be floated


in, then drained to allow that load to come to rest on a dry platform.

 Dry-docks are used for the construction, maintenance, and repair.

 Due to permanently moored at location and continuous operation, dry-docking is not
possible for FPSOs and FSOs.

 Underwater Inspection is equivalent to Dry-docking Inspection provided that all


arrangements and equipment meet the requirements specified by classification society.

 The survey shall be conducted every 2.5 (Intermediate Survey) and 5 years (Special
Survey) in conjunction with any subsea structural inspection in the vicinity.

Visual Inspection (VI) started from the bow to the stern in zig-
zagging with 5m increments.

Corrosion Protection System – Underwater Body
 The CP reading on Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) anode material is taken
by divers hand held Bathycorrometer.

 To confirm that the cathodic protection system is operating within design limits.

Mooring System
 The chain link were clean at five (5) or more spot at each different elevation of (-) 10m, (-)
20m, and (-) 30m by air diver for:
1. Visual inspection
2. Chain link thickness (>12% of original thickness – UTG / Vernier Caliper / Go no go
filler gauge)
3. Angle of chain (inclinometer)

Import System
 Visual inspection will be carried out to all flexible riser from Mean Seawater Line (MSL)
toward the Pipe Line End Manifold (PLEM).

 Visual inspection on the mid water arch will be carried out also to inspect the bouyancy
tanks, gravity base structure and chain connecting the mid water arch and gravity base
structure.

Export System
 The visual inspection will be done on the floating hose from first flange connected to FSO /
FPSO and moving towards barbell which consist of hose strings, winker lights, Marine
Breakaway Coupling (MBC), barbell and flanges and bolts & nuts.
