Growth of fiber optic
market by region and by
years

• The growth of demand for

the transmission range of
telecommunication
networks has led to the
growth of the construction
of optical access networks
• The bottleneck in the
construction of optical
networks is the segment
that is done in private
apartments
Segments of fiber
optic network

The optical access network

has three basic segments
• Trunk networks
• Distribution networks
• Secundar networks with
segments of home
instalation

Discusion

• Although, the length of home installation segment represents 1 or 2 %

of total cable length it introduces huge attenuation which can be a
bottleneck for whole access network.
• The first reason is increasing of attenuation due to micro bending.
• On the other hand, G.657 fibres have specific structure of reflection
index and for good splicing we need to have well-trained staff that
should avoid mistakes due to external influences.
• The attention should be paid on organizers in splice boxes and sockets.
Conclusion
• The construction of home installations is very important during the
development of telecommunication network
• we need to adjust the construction of home installations in existing
buildings to partition walls and interior and and we must avoid too much
bending of the optical fiber
• The cause of the increase is certainly the attenuation of micro bending.
The biggest cause of the increased attenuation of the optical signal on the
segment of home installations is the incompatibility of optical cables of
different standards and different vendors.
• The training of technical staff is necessary to connect different types of
optical fibres
• Also it is necessary to check the compactness of different optical fibre
vendors.
