Question Three-
What kind of media institution might
distribute your media product and why?
There is currently a gap in the distributing
market for the genre of music I have
chosen; indie pop.

There are music magazines that include

artists or bands from the genre I have
chosen, but not one that only focuses on
indie pop music.

is not the style I wanted to adapt upon
my own and I wanted my magazine to
focus on one genre of music.

This an example of a media institution that distributes media forms,

but it is not suitable for my own magazine, and would not be likely to
distribute it themselves because of this reason.
I have found a company that may
distribute my magazine.

own and would therefore be a
suitable company to distribute my
music magazine.

artists. These artists and more from this
genre are commonly featured within the

IPC Media distribute a variety of magazines, but
some of these, in particular NME music magazine,
have great similarities to my own magazine. NME
in particular features many indie-pop artists.

Therefore I feel this company may be likely to

distribute my own magazine.
In conclusion I feel there is generally a gap
in the market for a magazine of mine,
however there are companies such as
‘IPC Media’ that may distribute it.
