SKIMMING
Skimming is reading a text quickly to get a
general idea of meaning.
Skimming is defined as taking something off of
the top.
Scanning :
Scanning is reading a text quickly in order to find
specific information. Scanning is commonly used
in everyday life, for example when looking up a
word in a dictionary or finding your friend's name
in the contacts directory of your phone.
DETAILED READING
Detailed reading means reading something
carefully to get accurate information. You would
do this if you had to read long or complicated
material in a book or a report. You have seen how
skimming and scanning can help you to decide:
how useful a text is going to be.
REVISION READING
This involves reading rapidly through material
with which you are already familiar, in order to
confirm knowledge and understanding.
STAGES IN READING TEXT
These three phases are pre-reading, while-reading
and after-reading phases. Each of them has its
own important role. They are all necessary parts
of a reading activity. In language classrooms,
these phases have to be put in consideration in
order to achieve to develop students' reading
skills.
