THE ARTS OF DIGITAL

PHOTOGRAPHY AND
DIGITAL PAINTING
Prepared by: Jerald Kim T. Magsino
DID YOU HAVE A HARD
TIME IDENTIFYING THE
PICTURES? WHY?
Computer/Digital Arts
• Computer/Digital Arts
make use of electronic
and mechanical devices,
rather than the artist’s
own hand.
ZEISS IKON VINTAGE CAMERA
Zeiss Ikon is a German company that was
formed in 1926 by the merger of four camera
makers (Contessa-Nettel, Ernemann, Goerz and
Ica), and an infusion of capital by Zeiss. The
company formed one part of the Carl Zeiss
Foundation, another part being the optical
company Carl Zeiss.Logically, most of the
Zeiss Ikon cameras were equipped with Carl
Zeiss lenses
PHOTOGRAPH
• Derives its name from the Greek word
photos and graphos meaning “Light” and
“Writing” respectively.
• During its early years. It was not considered
yet an art. However, the twentieth-century
photographers creativity raised this “light
writing” to an aesthetic form in its own
artistic right
Light-sensitive Film
• Photographic film is a strip or sheet of
transparent film base coated on one
side with a gelatin emulsion
containing microscopically small
light-sensitive silver halide crystals.
The sizes and other characteristics of
the crystals determine the sensitivity,
contrast, and resolution of the film.
Dark Room
• The photographer or a
commercial developing service
center would have to process that
exposed film in a special enclosed
space known as “Dark Room”,
and only then would recorded
image can be viewed
Storage Media Device
• Is a device or material dedicated
to securely and accurately
holding the digital data files
being written to it by a camera’s
image processing system when a
camera is in operation
DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY
• DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY It is a
form of photography that uses digitized
cameras or device.
• The captured images become digital
files which are ready for further digital
processing viewing, publishing, or
printing
3 General Cathegories of Digital
Cameras
• Point-and- shoot- It requires little to no adjustment before
capturing a picture
• Filed or Advanced Point-and- Shoot Camera-It provides added
features that allow a uses to make manual adjustments and change
lenses before capturing a pictures to increase image quality
• Professional- It has greater control over exposures, lenses, color,
and image resolution.
The Digital SLR Camera
• The SLR – Single Lens
Reflex
• With an SLR camera the
photographer can exactly
see what lenses sees.
• Is a camera that typically uses a mirror and
prism system (hence "reflex" from the mirror's
reflection) that permits the photographer to view
through the lens and see exactly what will be
captured.
How a digital SLR Camera Functions
DSLR stands for “Digital Single Lens Reflex”.
In simple language, a DSLR is a digital camera
that uses a mirror mechanism to either reflect
light from a camera lens to an optical
viewfinder (which is an eyepiece on the back of
the camera that one looks through to see what
they are taking a picture of) or let light fully
pass onto the image sensor (which captures the
image) by moving the ...

Digital Painting
• DIGITAL PAINTING It is a technique in
creating an artwork using a computer
• is a new medium that lets us create
beautiful artwork, without the messiness
of painting with inks or oils. It still
requires many of the same skills and
techniques as traditional painting (no, you
can’t just create art at the click of a button…
yet), but it’s also easier in many ways.
