ABOUT
 CII-Godrej GBC was established in the year 2004.
 as CII's Developmental Institute on Green Practices & Businesses, aimed at
offering world class
advisory services on conservation of natural resources.
 The Green Business Centre in Hyderabad is housed in one of the greenest
buildings in the world and through  IGBC is spearheading the Green Building
movement in the country.
 The Green Business Centre was inaugurated by Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

The courtyards act as "light wells," 
illuminating adjacent work areas.
When this light is not sufficient,  sensors
trigger the deployment of  efficient
electric lights. Dimmers  automatically
control the  illumination levels, turning
the  lights off when they're  unnecessary.
Also, occupancy  sensors prevent a light
from being  switched on at an
unoccupied  workstation.

THE BUILDING BOASTS OF LIGHTING ENERGY SAVING 88 %
COMPARED TO AN  ELECTRICALLY BUILDING OF THE SAME SIZE .
VEGETATION THAT WAS LOST TO THE BUILT AREA WAS REPLACED BY
GARDENS  ON 55% OF THE ROOF AREA .
THE BUILDING ACHIEVES A 35% REDUCTION OF MUNICIPALLY
SUPPLIED  POTABLE WATER ,IN PART THROUGH THE USE OF LOW-
FLUSH TOILETS AND  WATERLESS URINALS.
95% OF THE RAW MATERIAL WAS EXTRACTED OR HARVESTING
LOCALLY.
AN IMPRESSIVE 77% OF THE BUILDING MATERIAL USE RECYCLED
CONTENT.
A WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN ENSURED THAT 96% OF
CONSTRUCTION WASTE
WAS RECYCLED .
35% OF USERS HAVE SHIFTED TO ALTERNATIVE MODES OF
TRANSPORTATION :  CARPOOLS,BICYCLES AND CARS THAT RUN ON
LIQUEFIED PETROLIUM GAS ,AND  LOW POLLUTION DIESEL AND
CII – WON AN INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED AWARD BY THE UNITED
STATES
GREEN BUILDING COINCIL AS THE MOST ADVANCED BUILDING IN THE
WORLD .
IT IS THE CENTER OF EXCELLENCE OF THE CONFEDERATION OF THE
INDIAN  INDUSTRY FOR ENERGY ,EFFICIENCY,GREEN
BUILDINGS,RENEWABLE  ENERGY,WATER ,ENVIRONMENT & RECYCLING
AND CLIMATE CHANGE ACTIVITIES  IN INDIA .
THE GREEN INSTITUTE ENTERED INTO A STRATEGIC PARTNARSHIP
WITH THE  CONFEDERATION OF INDIAN INDUSTRIES TO ESTABLISH
THE GREEN BUSINESS  CENTER(GBC) AT HYDRABAD FOR PROMOTING
GREEN ACTIVITIES IN INDIA .
