Governments?

• As the world became more inter connected through politics,


trade and communication, the role of nation-states and govern
are also shifting. Thus, national and local policies are not only
based on local context but also international and global
realities.
• However there is another side of globalization that
negatively affects local governments and local communities.
• Ex. Farmers vs. global investors
The Positive and Negative Effects of Globalization in Governments

• Positive Effect-
Globalization brings governments together so that they can
tackle common goals together. For example, due to globalization
world leaders have seen the impact of pollution and have resolved
to tackle climate change together.
• Negative Effect-
Some adheres the consequences of globalization include
terrorism, job insecurities, currency fluctuation and price
instability.

• With the growing globalization, the governance of global relations


goes beyond nation-state governments. Nation-state governments’
scale and scope are limited in addressing regional and global issues
like climate change, cybercrime and global financial crises. These
non-state actors include NGO’s, advocacy networks, voluntary
associations, and interest groups.
• Glocalization or internal globalization is the shift of authority to
actors above and below the state.

(WHO) including the World Health Report and Survey

Difference between Internationalism and
Globalism

 The difference between internationalism and globalism. is


that internationalism is political, economic and cultural cooperation between
nations while globalism is an ideology based on the belief that people, goods
and information ought to be able to cross national borders unfettered.
