Consumer Health refers to the decisions you make about the purchase
of product and use of health information and services that will have
direct effect on your health

Health Information is the data and facts you got from media and people
including the professionals and agencies.

Health Products are those substances, materials or equipment prepared


or manufactured for you to buy and use in the maintenance of health
and the treatment of diseases. Example is foods, eyeglasses, medicines,
cosmetics, cars, appliances and others.

Health Services refer to health information, actions, procedures or


work furnished, or supplied to help satisfy your needs and wants as a
consumer. This is services and things people do to and for other people.
Health Consumers are people who
use health services, as well as their

service in the past or who could

future.

“A teenager once went to a local market to buy materials for


a Science project. Upon passing by some stalls, he was invited
for free orientation on the latest product of a company. The
company was selling “health rings” that can detect the mood
of a person and help lower body temperature and blood
pressure. The teenager was easily attracted, which made him
buy two health rings for himself and his sister. He spent
₱600.00 for the items.”

“After a week, the teenager and his sister developed red


spots and rashes on their fingers. Upon checking, the ring
develops rust around them. The teenager wants to file a
complaint so that the company will return his money.”

health information and selection. It includes:
Credibility, Content, Disclosure, Links, Design
and Interactivity

Credibility involves considerations of information source,

Content should be accurate and complete, with an appropriate disclaimer provided.

Disclosure requires that a service provider inform users about any collection of data
about them and how that data will be used.

Link should be included so that users can verify content on the site and they should
lead users to other reliable sources of information.

Design does not affect the quality of the content however it can have significant
effects on the delivery and use of the information.

Interactivity does not affect the quality of the content however it is important to
provide contact information
