for consumer’s protection have been created.
Consumer Protection is a law created to
ensure the rights of consumers, fair trade,
competition, and free flow of truthful
information in the marketplace.
A Consumer is someone who acquires goods and
services for direct use of ownership rather than
for resale or use in production and manufacturing.
Types of consumer according to the Bureau of Trade and
Regulation and Consumer Protection of the Department of
Trade and Industry:

Intelligent Consumers prioritize their families needs and


limits purchases on their ability to pay.

Spendthrift Consumers buy everything. Economy and


thrift are not in their vocabulary.

Bargain Addicts obsessed with all types of bargains.


Close Fisted Consumers hoard money and deprive self of
needs.

Panic Buyers tend to buy unreasonable quantities of


household supplies.

Impulsive Buyers do not prioritize their needs. They buy


anything that they think they need then regrets it afterwards.
Information is important to correct and become well-
informed consumers. The following are the good

CONSUMER HEALTH is concerned with helping you
select health products and services wisely.

2. HEALTH PRODUCTS

Health products are defined as those substances


which gives energy or makes the person healthy

a. buy only medicines prescribed by the physician.

b. buy products that have passed the standards set by the


Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Bureau of food
and drugs (BFAD).

c. read the labels of processed, bottled and canned goods and


look for the nutritional values and expiration dates.

Health services consist of medical professionals,


organizations, and ancillary health care workers who
provide medical care to those in need. Health
services serve patients, families, communities, and
populations.

Physician
Records the history of the individuals, provides diagnoses,
performs medical examinations, and prescribes medications.
ex: pediatrician, gynecologist, orthopedist, pulmonologist,
neurologist, dermatologist etc.

Refers to a registered or licensed as a health practitioner.
doctor of medicine or osteopathy, pediatrist, dentist,
clinical psychologist, optometrist, nurse practitioner,
nurse-midwife, or a clinical social worker

A trained healthcare provider who practices under the


supervision of a physician or healthcare practitioner.
