The WMD-2014 Acoustically Stimulated Microphone Detector (A.S.M.D.

) is an
electronic counter surveillance equipment for use by TSCM Inspectors for
detecting audio eavesdropping equipment.

The system works by detecting the electric field created whenever a

microphone detects sound, and converting that electric field into an audio
signal which the WMD-2014 operator can either listen to, or use to establish an
acoustic feedback.

The WMD-2014 can be used to detect amplified wired microphone systems

– eavesdropper systems where the target premises is wired directly to the
listening post via an unshielded pair cabling system.
