INTRODUCTION……
 The life supporting arena of the world is called
biosphere. The life sustaining resources like
air, water, food, are withdraw from biosphere
and cycled through biosphere only. waste
product in gaseous, liquid and solid waste
forms too are discharge into the biosphere.
According to estimate biosphere contain more
than 3.5 lakh species of plant and more than
11 million species of animals.
Component of
Biosphere……..
Hydrosphere
Lithosphere
Atmosphere
Hydrosphere…….
 Hydrosphere covers more than 75% of earth’s
surface either as oceans or as fresh water. it is
estimated that the hydrosphere contain 1360
million cubic km of water. About 97% of total
water of hydrosphere is in the oceans and
inland gears. About 2% of the water resources
is logged in the glaciers and ice caps. Only
less than 1% is available as fresh water for
human consumption.
LITHOSPHERE……
 Lithosphere means the mantle of rocks consisting the
earth’s crust .The solid component of the earth is
called as lithosphere which includes soil, earth rocks
and mountains etc. It is made up of three layer crust,
mantle and core. The core is the central fluid having
diameter of about 2500km from the centre. Core is
mainly composed of nickel and iron. The mantle
extends 2900-3000km above the core and is in the
molten state.
CONTINUED…..
 The outer most solid zone about 8-40km
above the mantle is known as crust. The
surface of crust is covered with the soil, which
is most significant part of the lithosphere.
ATMOSPHERE …..
 The multilayered gaseous envelope surrounding the
Earth is called atmosphere. It consists of five distinct
layer or zones.
 The atmosphere is further divided into five layer.
 Troposphere
 Stratosphere
 Mesosphere
 Ionosphere
 Exosphere
TROPOSPHERE….
 The lower portion of atmosphere in which man with
other organism live is called troposphere. Altitude
range of troposphere varies from 0-11 km above the
Earth’s surface. The density of air in this region
decreases with increasing altitude. The temperature of
air in the troposphere decreases uniformly increasing
altitude from the ground temperature to a temperature
of about -56℃ at the top of troposphere is called the
tropopause.
STRATOSPHERE….
 It is the next 11-50 km above the earth surface.
In stratosphere temperature raises from a
minimum of about -56℃ to-2℃.This region is
rich in ozone which absorbs harmful
ultraviolet radiation from the Sun.
MESOSPHERE….
 This is the region above which the
stratosphere and extends upto 85 km height. In
this region the temperature again decreases
with height. The temperature in this region
decreases from -2℃ to -92℃ at the top of the
mesosphere.
IONOSPHERE….
 Thisis the region above the mesosphere
extends upto 500 km above the Earth’s
surface, chracterised by steady rise in
temperature with increasing altitude. It
also constitute of charge particle.
EXOSPHERE….
 The upper most layer of atmosphere. It
extends upto a height of 1600 km. In this
region earth’s magnetic field become
more prominent than gravitational field.
Thus there is no atoms except hydrogen
and helium. Temperature in this region is
very high.
