FARM-PLUS

“The Helping Hand”

Farm Plus “The B2B Marketplace”
Problem Statement
How much food produce are you wasting in ________?

"Nearly 40 per cent of the food produced in India is wasted every year due to
fragmented food systems and inefficient supply chains — a figure estimated by the
Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO).
This is the loss that occurs even before the food reaches the consumer.“ referance : google.com

• There is a food surplus as a result of overproduction, lack of selling opportunities

or loss of demand.
“For example, Tomatoes have been the main culprit so far, as poor transport and a
lack of cold storage facilities lead to wastage of as much as 16 percent of produce
each year.”

• There is also imperfect food production which is either sold to suitable markets or
is thrown away in landfills.
Solution
We have a vision to help farmers with respect to the product produced at their end which
is imperfect in nature and is not consumed or sold else gets wasted. We wish to have
portal wherein we will facilitate farmers to sell on our marketplace and through efficient
procurement and specialized supply chain.

• Farm Plus would work with suppliers to identify edible surplus and imperfect produce that would otherwise
go to waste.

• Farm plus would verify that the harvest would otherwise go to waste and helps suppliers sell their produce
to food manufacturers looking for high quality produce.

• We will be creating more economic opportunity for Indian farmers by helping them get more out of their
harvests. We will help farmers identify and verify edible on-farm food waste, and then find ways to capture
and sell it to new buyers via the Farm-plus marketplace and company tie-ups.
Market Size
• The agriculture industry in India reached a value of INR 63,506 Billion in 2020. Looking forward,
IMARC Group expects the market to reach a value of INR 125,350 Billion by 2026, exhibiting a
CAGR of 12% during 2021-2026.

Market Drivers
• India is the second-largest populated country accounting for 18% of the total world population. With
an increase in the population, the need for various agricultural products has increased significantly.

• Over the past few years, India’s GDP has been growing at a steady pace which has resulted in a
rise in the disposable incomes of the consumers. This rise has driven the agriculture market both in
terms of the producer and consumer.

• The emergence of modern retail has also been an important catalyst for the agriculture industry.
Modern retail helps in the elimination of middle men from the distribution chain, thereby providing
better remuneration to the farmers

• Government support plays a vital role in the growth of the Indian agriculture sector as agriculture
remains a primary means of livelihood for more than 50% to 60% of the India’s total population.
Objectives
• The Farm-plus will provide a simple and clear way to communicate that the produce
used in making innovative, sustainable products would have otherwise gone to waste.

• As a part of Farm-plus third-party verification system, the Farm-plus seal would allow

food and beverage brands to showcase how their purchasing of rescued produce is
helping to create new revenue opportunities for farmers, reduce food waste, water
use, and CO2 emissions.
