LO2 Planning and developing for

animation

By Ola Lewczuk’’)
Initial ideas
I drew a mind map. I tried to
show what chosen word
means.
I haven’t really used those
ideas, I don’t think I really
needed to, that was only a
plan for my animation, the
actual one turned out a little
bit different.
Character
development

I’ve tried to show how I could possibly

develop my character. My drawings aren’t
perfect , but what I wanted to show is that
my plastecine character can be easily
squeezed , it can get fatter or skinner,
taller or shorter etc.
Proposal sheet

I drew a
character which
is similar to the
actual, final
one. I called it
Miss M. then I
made it.
Proposal sheet

I was going to do white

board animation, but I
changed my mid, because
it would probably be too
hard and complicated to
do, as I was ‘squeezing’
my character. Claymation
was a lot easier, because I
had to make Miss M move,
and it would be slightly
hard to make her look the
same in every picture, and
that’s why I picked to do
claymation as my final
animation.
Proposal sheet

I was going to use repeat animation , but I

didn’t. I was going to take some pictures
that show the way she walks (or moves) and
then just multiply these pictures while
editing this animation , but I didn’t do it ,
because she wasn’t moving in the same
place all the time, at I ended up taking all the
photos myself, without repeating them.
My story line is kind of weird, like all
Proposal sheet of my animations.
‘Miss M. is on the beach. She wants
to get some suntan, she falls asleep,
and when she wakes up she only
has eyes left , because she has
melted down’
Proposal sheet

Rather obvious thing, I

needed camera and tripod,
also, I had to use coloured
paper as my background
and sea, I used plastecine
to make my character,
Miss M.
It helped me to get organised , so exactly
knew what I had to do in each record lesson.

Production
Schedule
I was a week late with
my production
schedule, as I was
absent on Tuesday the
8th Feb. I had to hurry
up, and sometimes do
way more work than
everyone else, but I
made it.

This shows my story line, I think its funny, and kind of weird.
One of the
pictures from
my testing
animation

I done my testing
animation , to make
sure everything will
work in my actual
Testing animation. I’m glad I
done it , I found out

animation that all the moves

had to be a lot more
smooth.
Sound in my animation
I have added sound to my
animation, I was going to
add music from websites for
the begging of my
animation, but it didn’t work,
so I had to think of
something else.
I asked Rachael for help ,
and together we recorded
the sound for my animation,
we have done it about 3-4
times , and then we have
picked the best one. I
actually quite like sound in
my animation. It was kind of
hard to synchronise sound
with animation, we I worked
out how to do it.
Problems and solutions.
If I could do my animation all over again, I probably would make so many
changes. My lighting in actual animation didn’t work very well, it’s because
I done my animation in two different places, with different lighting. Another
weakness of my animation: moves probably weren’t sooth enough, next
time I’d do it much smoother. We had about a month to do everything, it
seemed like ages, but it has gone so quick, and I didn’t have enough time
to do everything. Also, now I know we don’t always can count on Internet
and websites with sounds/ music, it don’t always work and you have to
think of something else, when you don’t have enough time.
What do I think about my animation? I don’t think it’s great, but I don’t think
it’s really bad neither. I tried my hardest to do it, I know not everything
worked out perfectly , but I tried, and I’m rather happy with effects of my
work.
