Objectives:

1.Describe triangle.
2.Determine the triangles as
right, acute and obtuse by
means of its sides.
3.Recognize the importance of
types of the triangles through
real life situation.

OBTUSE USING ITS
SIDE
Triangles
- it is one of the basic
shapes in geometry: a
polygon with three vertices
and three sides, which are
all line segment.
Pythagorean theorem
- it states that the square of the
hypotenuse (the side opposite the
right angle) is equal to the sum of
the squares of the other two sides.
c2 = a 2 + b 2
Given: ∆ABC
Example no: 1

a = 12
b = 16
c = 20
Using the Pythagorean theorem formula, lets find out what types of
triangle is ∆ABC.

HYPOTHESIS I:
If the square of the
longest side is equal to
the sum of the shorter
sides, then the triangle is
right.
Given: ∆RED
Example no: 2

Using the Pythagorean theorem formula, lets find out what types of
triangle is ∆RED.

HYPOTHESIS II:
If the square of the
longest side is less than
the sum of the shorter
sides, then the triangle is
acute.
Given: ∆ERA
Example no: 3

a=8
b = 12
c = 15
Using the Pythagorean theorem formula, lets find out what types of
triangle is ∆ERA.

HYPOTHESIS III:
If the square of the
longest side is greater
than the sum of the
shorter sides, then the
triangle is obtuse.
