This document describes a proposed device called the Load Lifter intended to assist elderly individuals with lifting heavy items into their vehicle trunks. The device uses a pulley system to lessen the load and reduce strain on the user. It was designed to lift a platform to the level of the trunk so items can be pushed inside without lifting. Testing was planned but not completed due to issues communicating with collaborators and revising goals. While data was not collected, the process provided learning experiences in engineering, research, and communication skills. Further development is needed to determine if such a device could effectively achieve its intended purpose of aiding the elderly.
