Commands for Beamon

 New commands
– For example: GDCOI, GDCOE, GDSTP
– New functionality: GDCOP

 Compared to old commands

– GSCOI - connection of GS Unit
– Parameters CLM=CLM, SPM=SPM, TSM=TSM
– GDCOI - Connection of a Beamon Unit
– One Parameter UNIT=beamon_unit

 Possible Beamon Units

– CLM, XM, MUX34, MUX3, MUXSP, MUXTS

 New Concept AP (Access Point)

Variants and what they Mean (1)

Var CLM Meaning

10 Clock distribution via the back plane, used for 16K case
11 Clock distribution via cables from front plane

Var XM Meaning
0 Normal Rate 16K Switch (XDB)
1 Subrate 16K Switch (XDB)
2 Normal Rate 16K Switch NNRP (XNB)
3 Subrate 16K Switch NNRP (XNB)

NOTE: Information from AI for Unit

Variants and what they Mean (2)

Var MUX34 Meaning

0 Only currently one Variant

Var MUX3 Meaning

1 GDM-F magazine. BFD 511 06
2 DLM magazine (DL2 only). BFD 742 403/2
3 DLM-DL1 magazine. BFD 742 403/12

NOTE: Information from AI for Unit

Other Issues

 The switch can work in two modes

– normal rate (512k) (XM Variant 0 & 2)
– subrate (128k) ( XM Variant 1 & 3)

– Because of this there is no SRS to be defined

 Size Alteration
– SAE 1094 (COSS, steps in real K NI=16384 )
– SAE 442 (max NI=512K, steps of 16K)
– SAE 600 blocks CH and XM (subrate traffic, max NI=128K)
NI is now equal to XM capacity (1 XM = 16k)
Order of definition in AI for XM
Other Command Changes

 EXPOI/E/P
Commands updated for Beamon

 NTCOI
Updated for Beamon (More Later)

 BLRPI
New parameter Forced for blocking RP when Unit still working

 BLEME/I
Not relevant for RP Types of type RPI, block/deblock RP also
block/deblock EM
Only EM 0 used in EXEMI command (design Decision)
What is an AP (1)

 An AP is an access point where one Unit connects to another

 XM has 22 APs 0 - 21
 MUX34 has 4 APs 0 - 3
 MUX3 has 16 APs 0 - 15

There is no relationship between which AP is connected to

which unit.

This is main difference between GS890 and Classic GS

Classic GS fixed relation ship between SPM and TSM so there

was no need to define it in SW (SPM-0-0 -> TSM-0 to -31)
What is an AP (2)

 MUXTS has 1 AP

MUXSP and MUXTS are exception there is a fixed relationship

MUXSP-0 -> MUXTS-0 to -31

BUT MUXSP can connect to any XM of correct variant

Where can SNTs connect

 SNTs can now connect to 4 places in the GS

DL2 SNTs connect to MUX3 unit

DL3 SNTs connect to MUX34 or MUXTS
DL34 SNTs connect to XM

This means changes in the NTCOI command

Dynamic MUP Allocation DL34 Interface

 The DL34 interface is introduced in Beamon

 It is possible for different devices to select different number of

MUPs, this allows different number of devices to be connected
e.g.
– 2048 2K (largest selectable)
– 1024 1K
– 512 0.5K
– 256 0.25K
 Maximum for a Switch Board 16K
 DLEB uses a fixed number of MUPs (2048)
– Have a maximum of 8 DLEB
NTCOI Connection of SNT

 NTCOI can connect to each unit

NTCOI:SNT=ASDS3-0, SNTP=MUX3-0-0, SNTV=33;

! DL2 SNT !

NTCOI:SNT=ETM1-1, SNTP=MUX34-5-0, SNTV=1, PROT=1, EQLEV=4;

! ET155-7 DL3 SNT !

NTCOI:SNT=ETM2-0, SNTP=XM-0-0-1, SNTV=1, PROT=1, MODE=2048;

! ET155-1 DL34 SNT !

NTCOI:SNT=ECP5-0, SNTP=XM-0-0-4, SNTV=4, MODE=256;

! ECP5-1 DL34 SNT !
What Can be a Device?
 Current Device Types can be

– MUX34, 2 board required, 1 for A plane and 1 for B plane

Used for connecting MUX3 and DL2/DL1 SNTs
Gives backwards compatibility towards old HW devices

– ET155-1, 2 boards required, 1 for normal traffic and 1 for protection

Used for 155 Mbit Trunking Systems
Can be defined to use Different number of MUPs
Replaces the ET155-7 currently in BYB501

– ECP, Echo Canceller, only one board required

– TRA, Transcoder applications, only one board required

How the switch should Grow

The Switch should grow depending on what is the expected end result
e.g. Customer wants to expand to 256K Normal Rate
Starts with 64K

00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07

10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17
