 KOTA SUPER THERMAL POWER PLANT IS A COAL BASED

STEAM POWER PLANT

 IT IS LOCATED ON THE LEFT BANK OF RIVER CHAMBEL.

 TOTAL GENERATION CAPACITY IS 1240MW.

 CENTRAL ELECTRICAL AUTHORITY WAS PREPARED THE

PROJECT OF THIS PLANT IN APRIL,1973.

 Coal Handling Plant  Electro-Static
 Ash Handling Plant Precipitator
 Water Treatment Plant
 The source of water (cooling for the P.S.) is the reservoir
formed by “Kota Barrage” on the Chambal River.
 The comparative use of water from barrage by the P.S. is 2.75
cusec for 110 MW.

 The coal linkage for the power station is bought from Dudhichua
mines of Singraulli coal field which is about 800 km from Kota.
 For bringing in coal for power station 15 KM long private siding
from the Gurla Railway Station on Delhi-Bombay broad gauge
line.
 The electric power Generators require direct
current excited magnets for its field system.
 The excitation system must be reliable,
stable in operation and must response
quickly to excitation current requirements.
 The main function of excitation system is to
supply required excitation current at rated
load condition of turbo Generator.
1) DC EXCITATION
2) STATIC EXITATION

3) BRUSHLESS EXCITATION

(DIGITAL EXCITATION)
 This excitation is also known as the
conventional Excitation system.
 The DC Exciter consists of pilot and main
exciter.
 It has AVR to control the terminal voltage of
alternator.
