 Joshi S.G et al(2014) presents a high speed solar powered system in cultivation based
on robotic platform and artificial agent which is steered by DC motor remote control. The
IR sensor is used and the seed block can be detected and solved using water pressure.
 Limo Kipkoech Eliudet al (2011) proposed machine is driven by the tractor power take-
off (PTO). The PTO shaft will be connected to the vertical shaft by a set of straight mitre
bevel gears at 90 degree. The design borrows from Bush hog, auger type drilling units
with the auger being replaced by the vertical shaft carrying a cutter pate.
 Kyada. A. R et al (2014)proposing for seed to seed spacing and depth of seed
placement, using mechanisms such as seed meter mechanism, plunger mechanism,
lever fulcrum mechanism, cam shaft and power transmission, pulling mechanism. Joshi
S.G et al (2014) presents a high speed solar powered system in cultivation based on
robotic platform and artificial agent which is steered by DC motor remote control.
 The IR sensor is used and the seed block can be detected and solved using water
pressure. A. Kannan et al (2014) converted the tractor movement into ground wheel
rotation is transmitted to the metering mechanism through the power transmission
system depending upon the nature of seeds; we can change the metering mechanism
arrangement. The flax blades are used in making holes in the soil. These flax blades
serves good in removing the soil and throwing it out so that a hole is made in the zone of
plantation so that sapling can be easily planted in the soil. The plantation needs only a
1.5” inch diameter hole so that the auger drill is also made of such specification. This
avoids making larger holes more than the requirement. On surveying the field of our
project it is found that flax blades along with rotating hand wheel and springs are used
which requires again a manual operation. One method which uses driller type machine
which makes just hole in the ground and also requires in minimum of two members for
handling the machine.

Automatic Seed Sewing Machine Innovative Seed sowing equipment It has remarkable
influence in agriculture.
 By using this innovative project of seed sowing equipment. We can save more time
required for sowing process and also it reduces lot of labourer cost. It is very helpful for
small scale formers. After comparing the different method of seed sewing and limitations
of the existing machine, it is concluded to this Solar machine can Maintain row spacing
and controls seed rate. Control the seed depth and proper utilization of seeds can be
done with less loss. Perform the various simultaneous operations and hence saves
labour requirement so as labour cost, labour time and also save lots of energy. Hence it
is easily affordable by farmers. So we feel that this project serves something good to this
world and we would like to present it before this prosperous world. International

carried out by us made an impressing task in the shaping works of inclined work piece .it
is very useful for the labours to make a hole for inclined profile component of required
length to perform the milling operations to be carried out.
Problem
Statement
 Digging pits for planting saplings is a labour intensive process and the
process is slow and inefficient. Hard tools are used to take soil out.
 The present day equipments available in the market are too costly and use
gasoline which is not environmental friendly.
 Equipments available in the market are focused only on value for
money (VFM) and are least concerned about the cons of the equipment like
not maintaining the nature of the soil, creating harsh noise and harmful
exhaust due to gasoline combustion.
 Our design is based on renewable energy sources and has less ill effects on
the soil and will provide a better future for agriculture and solar based
equipments
Objective

 To fabricate a portable ,heavy duty solar auger.

  To select a suitable solar panel and battery pack for the machine.

 To fabricate a compact  chassis  to hold all units.

 To procure a drill bit which performs best in both wet and dry soil.

  To select a suitable DC motor and study its characteristics and performance.

NUMERICAL CALCULATIONS
 Solar panel used = 18 volt, 40 watt
Power = Voltage * Current
40 = 18 * C
C = 2.3 Amps

 At full sunlight the current coming from the solar panel is 2.3 Amps.

 The 12 volt batteries should be charged using 14 volt because 18 volt may damage
the batteries while charging .

 To reduce the voltage a buck converter is used. When the voltage is decreased, the
current increases.
Power=Voltage*Current
40 = 14 * C
C = 40/14
C = 2.85 Amps

 Current coming from buck converter after reducing 18 volt to 14 volt = 2.85 Amps

 There are 2 batteries used to run the motor, they are connected in parallel
combination for charging.

Battery capacity in parallel = Battery capacity of Battery 1

+
Battery capacity of Battery 2
Total battery capacity = 7.5 Ah + 7.5 Ah
Therefore, Total battery capacity = 15 Ah

Charging time = Battery capacity / Current supplied

Therefore, Charging time = 15/2.85 = 5.26 hours

 Discharging time –
To run the motor batteries are connected in series. When the batteries are
connected in series, the battery capacity does not change and voltage increases
and for parallel battery combinations, the battery capacity increases and the
voltage remains the same.

Discharging time = Battery capacity / Current drawn from motor

= 7.5 Amps / 5 Amps
Therefore, Discharging time = 1.5 hours
 The Auger bit diameter = 76 mm

End of Auger blade

Force calculation at the end of the auger blade –

1. Torque of the motor = 1980 N-mm
2. Distance from the centre (Radius of Auger) = 38 mm

Torque = Force * Distance

1980 = Force * 38
Force = 52 Newton

Therefore, Force at end of Auger blade = 52 Newton
