Candelaria was established as an independent town on Aug. 5, 1879. The
municipality lies at the western part of Quezon Province, about 108 km from
Manila and 23 km from Lucena City. To its north lies the famous Mt. Banahaw, to
the east is the town of Sariaya, to the south is San Juan, Batangas, and to the west
are the towns of Dolores and Tiaong. There are also major roads within the
municipality like Rizal Ave., Cabunag St., and Ramos Street-Masalukot Barangay
Rd. to name a few.

Marasigan, rock musician of the famous band
Eraserheads, and Ms. Ahtisa Manalo, Miss

 WHAT IS AN
ABBREVIATION?

Abbreviation is a shortened form of a word.

Words are shortened to avoid repetition of long
words and save space and time.
Usually, we write abbreviations by omitting
or not including some letters and ending them
with a period. The rule is when the word was
written in capital letter, the abbreviated word
must be in capital letter, too.

We should also take note that if an
abbreviated word appears at the end of the
sentence, a single period serves both to mark
the abbreviation and close the sentence.
