• Arsi University ICT directorate is a service


provider for academically and administration
Employers and others based on information
communication Technology Aspects.
• As the workers description, the commission had
established in 2008 E.C.
1.Introduction and Background

• The directorate’s governance structure embodies


five operational units:
• ICT infrastructure and service unit
• Business application Development and administration
unit
• Learning technologies unit
• ICT training and consultancy service unit
• ICT support and maintenance unit
2.Objectives of Internship

• Internship have the aim and objective as general is


to link theoretical knowledge with the real world
practice and to achieve the following specific
objective:
o Develop collaboration skills by working together on group
projects.
o To understand the working environment.
o To understand how to construct network infrastructure.
2.Objectives of Internship
o To understand maintenance.
o To obtain the deep knowledge.
o To understand how to be effective and efficient
on the work.
o To provide experience that provide a
framework or agenda for final year of study.
o Enabling students to relate theoretical concept
with practical situation.

been working in
• As I have stated before ICT directorate have five
operational unit, From those operational unit I have
been worked in Business Application Development and
Administration Unit.
• This section of ICT directorate is responsible for the
following tasks:
• Analyze, Develop web applications
• Analyze, Design Information Systems
• Write Software Program

• The work task I have been executed during my


Internship was web-development.
• We have worked on developing Arsi University
dormitory management system as partial fulfillment
of our practical attachment.
• Web development broadly refers to the tasks
associated with developing websites for hosting via
intranet or internet.
Procedure Followed before, during
and after development of System
• In order to finish our project we decided to produce a
schedule by discussing with our mentors.
• After we set our schedule, our advisor agreed up on it and
he allowed us to move on the schedule.
• These are the steps we followed to accomplish our task.
• Existing system analysis
• Identify System requirements
• Setting up Environments
• Starting project
Step-1: System analysis

• includes analyzing
• strengths, weakness, and actors in existing system,
• analyzing overview of actors and use cases on system
identification of system proposed system.
• Generally learning the system.
Step-2: Requirement analysis

Step-3 : Environment Setup

• The software requirement specification can


produce at the culmination of the analysis task.
• As per as the required software and hardware
compatibility setting up environments needed for
system development includes:
• Setting up XAMMP server
• Visual studio code and
• Installing latest version of browsers
Step-4: Start Project

• As I have tried to depict before we have developed


this system by group of four students and we have
partitioned the proposed system into four main
parts and developed independently. As follows:
• Home page, Login page and Help page
• System Admin page
• Proctor page
• Student page and Report page

of Internship activity
• In the internship period I have learned both technical and non-
technical leanings .
• Technical skills include:
• Real life Software development process in practically.
• Web development methodology

• Confidence and decision making ability

• In Computer Science there are so many theories and concepts which are
applicable on real world.
• I have observed and practiced during my internship were:

Challenges and Measure I
have taken
• Below we try to mention some of the challenge that we have faced:
• Financial problem
• Shortage of materials
• Lack of deep knowledge of field practice
• Lack of time to cover my task properly
• Measure I have taken to overcome the above challenges we have
studied hard day and night using the resources from the internet and
from the document provided. And an other main thing that made
me to overcome those problem was our team sprit and working
together.
6.Conclusion and
recommendations
• The internship program has been a great helping
the sense that it improved my teamwork
capabilities. At the ICT directorate it is important
to function as a unit and respect the team mate’s
ideas and suggestions. Team discussions like brain
storming sessions helped me identify and solve
numerous problem issues which would have been
impossible to solve otherwise.
Recommendation

• Recommendation for future interns


• I recommend future intern before joining Arsi University
ICT directorate Application development team they :
• Should be more practical knowledge on web development
technology.
• Try to implement software engineering principles at all steps of
software lifecycle even at the university projects as this practice
will help to complete commercial projects quickly.
• Students should be responsible for the duties they assigned for
and pay attention for the practical work
Recommendations

• Recommendations for our university improving the


internship
• Facilitating prospects for students to get their actual
positions and tangible roles in industry, internships play a
title role in shaping them to significant models,
