INTRODUCTION TO TOEIC
What is TOEIC?

 TOEIC stands for the Test of English for International


Communication. It tests your ability to
understand work-related writings, instructions and
conversations in English.
 There are three types of TOEIC:
 TOEIC Listening – Reading (We use this in PolMed)
 TOEIC Speaking – Writing
 TOEIC Bridge

 Score: 10 – 990 Gold :

A higher score is a better score.
• 905 - 990 International Proficiency
• 785 – 900 Working Proficiency Plus Blue: 730-
859
• 605 – 780 Limited Working Proficiency
• 405 – 600 Elementary Proficiency Plus Green:
• 255 – 400 Elementary Proficiency 470-729

• 185 – 250 Memorized Proficiency


• 10 – 180 No Useful Proficiency Brown:

TOEIC test from ITC (Internasional Test Center) in

Format and Length

 Format: Multiple choice, pencil and paper


 There are two sections: listening section (100
questions) and reading section (100 questions).
 Length: 2.5 hours
The listening section is 45 minutes
 The reading section is 75 minutes
 30 minutes is to answer non-scored questions about
yourself

How to Get Higher TOEIC Scores

Before the test


 Work on your English
 Use your preparation time well
 Study and understand the format od the test and the direction for each
section

During the test


 Know how to mark your answer sheet properly
 Never leave any open blanks – Always guess
 Eliminate answer choices that seem wrong
 Learn to control test anxiety
