Significance of The Research
• Theoretical Significance
This research is expected to contribute to the English education
program, especially in understanding the concept of students' self-
confidence in learning English.

• Practical Significance
The results of this study can be used as consideration for lecturers in
determining whether the online discussion learning model via Zoom
can continue to be used or not as an alternative learning model even
though the Covid-19 pandemic has ended and teaching and learning
activities have been transferred to face-to-face meetings.

Sample and Sampling Technique

• According to Sugiyono (2016), the


sample is part of the number and
characteristics of the population
determined in the study.
• The researcher used total sampling to 106 students
select research respondents. Total
sampling is a sampling technique if
the number of population and sample
that were used in the study is equal
(Sugiyono, 2009). So, the sample of
this research is 106 students.

based on the aspects of self-
confidence presented by Gufron
(2012). From these 7 aspects, the
researcher identified indicators for

characteristics of a confident
