OBJECTIVES
A. Identify the different
seasons in the Philippines.

B. Name the activities for specific

seasons in the Philippines.

C. Appreciate the importance of

considering appropriate activities to
do in each season in the Philippines.
Do you like to travel? The weather and the seasons are factors
that you need to consider when travelling. Bad weather may
affect not only travellers but also local residents.
The terms weather, climate, and season are often used
interchangeably in everyday language because they describe
conditions in the atmosphere. But these terms have different
meanings in science.
 Weather – refers to the day-to-day conditions of a
particular place. If weather is the same for several
days, meteorologists call this a weather pattern.
 Climate – refers to the average weather condition in
a certain area during a long period of time.
 Season – refers to the period of time characterized
by a certain kind of weather.
 Tropical – characteristics of a region or climate
with temperatures high enough to support year-
round plant growth given sufficient moistures.
Now, look outside the window, “What
can you say about the weather
today?” Is it the same with the
weather yesterday?”

Why is it that we don’t experience

other seasons compare to other
countries?

The Philippines is considered a

tropical country because it’s near
the equator and it experiences wet
and dry seasons only, unlike the
other countries having 4 seasons
due to its location.

SEASONS
IN THE
PHILIPPINES
Our country has a warm tropical climate with two
seasons the dry and rainy (wet).
Being in a tropical country, the Philippines
experience a warm climate with more sunny days
than rainy days in a year. The heat of the sun
causes more amounts of water to evaporate than
the amount it falls as rain. This is the reason that
there are only two seasons in the Philippines, as
compared to other countries in the colder regions.
This picture is an example of dry season. Normally
from December to May. This season can be
further divided into the cool dry season, from
December to February, and the hot dry season,
from March to May.
This picture is an example of rainy season or wet
season. It is usually from June to November.
During this season, the country experiences
moderate to heavy rainfalls. You have to prepare
for the arrival of typhoons during rainy days.
