 ROADS AND ENGINEERING;


Mandate;

Roads is one of the three subsectors in works department whose mandate is to;
 “Plan, develop and maintain an economic transport infrastructure in the District”.
The subsector mission is to;
 “Promote adequate, safe, and well maintained roads and transport infrastructure services for
social economic development in the district”.
Objectives of the sub sector are;

 To develop an adequate, reliable and efficient multi-modal transport network in


the district.
 To improve the human resource and institutional capacity of the transport sector
to efficiently execute the planned interventions in the district.
 To improve the national construction industry and
 Lastly to increase the safety of transport services in the district.

The sector budget priorities for the FY 2022/23 are;

 The department under sub sector “roads” intends to carry out the routine
maintenance of the following selected district roads totaling to a length of
47.5km.

Partners supporting the sector;

Besides funds from the government agencies especially from Uganda Road Fund, the sector also
receives support from some non-government organizations like;
 International Development Institute,
 Busoga Forestry Company, and
 Musubi Farm among others.
Unfunded priorities;
 The following roads also need to be worked on but due to limited funding, the sector cannot
handle at ago;

Conclusion Remarks;
 In a conclusive remarks, I would like to thank the political wing of Mayuge District Local government headed by
Hon. Bishop Frank Tibangendeka for their continued support towards the progress of this department. We are really
so grateful and I assure you that you will not regret.
 We also thank the administration of Mayuge District local Government headed by the Chief Administrative Officer,
Mr. Lukwago Anthony deputized by Mr. Kitavujja Leonard. We are so grateful, thanks for being good in all times
and we pray that God rewards you accordingly.
 I would like to thank all the heads of departments, all staff of Mayuge District Local Government. Thanks for being
good to us. Please continue wishing us good.
 Lastly, allow me to thank the District Engineer, Eng.Wanjusi Febiano who is the overall supervisor of the
department plus the different heads of sub sectors (roads –Mr. Malwaya Asadi, water-Mr. Mudimbo Tom
Freeman, and buildings-Mr.Waako Rogers) that make up the works department. Thanks for showing that
togetherness amidst all challenges.
