Chapter#3 Dynamics Notes:Sir moin baig ALS DNK SySTEM Acceleration and tension in A string Calculate Tension and acceleration of two vertical bodies in motion attached with string
• Consider two bodies A and B attached
with both end of string having mass m1 and m2 • Let m1is greater than m2 • The body A is heavier so it must move downward with acceleration “a”. • The body B is lighter so it must move upward with same acceleration. • Pulley is frictionless hence Tension will be same through out. Force on body A:
• Body A moves downward, hence
its weight W1 is greater than Tension T. • Net force on body A =W1- T= • Net force=m1g-T--------(1) • So body A accelerate so it produces acceleration then according to Newton’s second law F=m1a----(2) • m g-T=m a-------(3) Force on body B:
• As body B moves upward,
hence its weight W2 is less than Tension T in the string. • Net force on body B= T-W2 • Net force=T-m2g------(4) • According to Newton’s law of motion F=m2a-----(5) • So, T-m2g=m2a------(6) Find acceleration : Find tensioN: Problem: Find acceleration and tension of two bodies , One moves vertical and other moves horizontal surface Find acceleration and tension:
• Consider two bodies A and B
attached with both end of string having mass m1 and m2 • Let m1is greater than m2 • The body A is heavier so it must move downward with acceleration “a”. • The body B is lighter so it place on horizontal surface move with same acceleration. • Pulley is frictionless hence Tension will be same through out. Force on body A:
• Body A moves downward, hence its
weight W1 is greater than Tension T. • Net force on body A =W1- T= • Net force=m1g-T--------(1) • So body A accelerate so it produces acceleration then according to Newton’s second law F=m1a----(2) • m1g-T=m1a-------(3) Force on body B:
• As body B moves on horizontal
surface, hence its weight W2 is less than Tension T in the string. • Net force on body B= T • Net force=T----------(4) • According to Newton’s law of motion F=m2a-----(5) • So, T=m2a------(6) Derivation for acceleration: Derivation for tension: Problem:
