Welcome to the Oregon trail!

Virtual Field Trip created by: Zachary Dinslage

Today’s learning objective is:

the lives of pioneers
and why they decided to move west.

SS 5.3.4 Compare, contrast, and draw conclusions about the

characteristics of culture and migration in the United States.
z

Let’s get started!

I need you to first figure out what your

pioneer name would be…
Think creatively! You will be drawing an
image of them later, so really try to
visualize them!

Did you know?

The Oregon Trail was over 2,100 miles!

The trail went through six current-day states

and the terrain was not always easy!
Because this journey was so long…
z

Pioneers had to pack just enough items to

survive, but not too much, because the wagons
could only hold so much.
z

What are a few things you would bring on the

trail with you?
z
Now that you know what you’re
bringing, let’s pack it in the wagon!
