Teaching Approach
It is an overview which
applies to learning in all
kinds of learners.
It is a set of principles,
beliefs or ideas about the
nature of learning which is
translated into the
Example: We learned from the
Psychology that the person’s capacity
to learn starts from simple to
complex like child learns first how to
add, subtract, multiply and divide
numbers before he/she learns
fraction and later on do Algebra.

Teacher-Centered
Approach
The teacher is
perceived to be the
only reliable source
of information in
contrast to the
learner-centered
approach
Learner-Centered
Approach
In which it is belief
that the learner is also
an important resource
because he/she knows
something and is
therefore capable of
sharing something.
Teaching Method
The systematic way of
doing something. It implies
an orderly logical
arrangement of steps. It is
more procedural.
It is the plan that the teacher
should follow when they are
teaching. By applying a certain
approach, they will come up with
the procedures and practices for
teaching the students.
Teaching Technique
It is implementation that which actually
takes place in a classroom. It must be
consistent with the method and
harmony with approach as well.
It is the teacher’s style or tricks to
accomplish an immediate objective.
It is detailed list of rules or a guideline
for any (teaching) activity.
It is based on the description of steps,
or a set of do’s and don’ts and can often
be linked to a method or strategy.
Mind mapping – you
apply guidelines for
devising content in a
holistic way. This is a
technique can be used in
an individual working
situation, in a group or by
the teacher as a means of
demonstrating
something.
Brainstorming – it is a
group centered
interaction method.
This technique describes
a way of collecting ideas
or information in a
creative and uninhibited
way.
EXAMPLES
System of rewards and punishments
If classroom become distracted, a
teacher may use the technique of silent
reading.
A quick physical activity to distract or
divert their attention.
TEACHING STRATEGY
Methods and
techniques that a
teacher will use to
support their students
through the learning
process.
A teacher will choose the teaching
strategy most suitable to the topic
being studied, the level of expertise of
the learner, and the stage in their
learning journey.
