BASIC TOOLS AND

EQUIPMENT USED IN
ELECTRONICS
ANALOG MULTI TESTER
A multimeter or a multitester, also known as a VOM (volt-ohm-
milliammeter), is an electronic measuring instrument that
combines several measurement functions in one unit. A typical
multimeter can measure voltage, current, and resistance.
Analog multimeters use a microammeter with a moving pointer
to display readings.
DIGITAL MULTI TESTER
A digital multi tester or multimeter has a digital display, a dial
that sets the function and the range of measurement, and
ports. It is an electronic measuring instrument that combines
several measurement functions in one unit. A typical multi
tester can measure voltage, current, and resistance.
SOLDERING IRON
A soldering iron is a hand tool used in soldering. It supplies heat
to melt solder so that it can flow into the joint between two work
pieces. A soldering iron is composed of a heated metal tip and
an insulated handle.
SOLDERING GUN
A soldering gun is an approximately pistol-shaped, electrically
powered tool for soldering metals using tin-based solder to
achieve a strong mechanical bond with good electrical contact.
The tool has a trigger-style switch so it can be easily operated
with one hand.
SPONGE

SOLDERING STAND
A soldering iron stand is used to keep the hot soldering iron
away from you and the work area. A soldering iron stand i made
out of metal and comes with a cleaning sponge to clean the
soldering iron tip.
SOLDERING LEAD
Solder is basically metal wire with a "low" melting point, where
low for our purposes means low enough to be melted with a
soldering iron. For electronics, it is traditionally a mix of tin and
lead. Tin has a lower melting point than Lead, so more Tin
means a lower melting point.
DESOLDERING OR SOLDERING PUMP
A desoldering or soldering pump, colloquially known as a
solder sucker, is a manually-operated device which is used to
remove solder from a printed circuit board. There are two
types: the plunger style and bulb style.
CORDLESS PORTABLE DRILL

PORTABLE ELECTRIC DRILLS

Is used for boring hole(s) or metal chassis with the use of
drill bits having sizes from 1/6” to approximately 1/4”.
DRILL BITS
Drill bits are cutting tools used to remove material to create
holes, almost always of circular cross-section. Drill bits
come in many sizes and shapes and can create different
kinds of holes in many different materials. In order to create
holes drill bits are usually attached to a drill, which powers
them to cut through the work piece, typically by rotation.
CROSS CUT SAW
A crosscut saw (thwart saw) is any saw designed for cutting
wood perpendicular to (across) the wood grain. Crosscut saws
may be small or large, with small teeth close together for fine
work like woodworking or large for coarse work like log
bucking, and can be a hand tool or power tool.
HACK SAW BLADE

HACKSAW
A hacksaw is a fine-toothed saw, originally and mainly made for
cutting metal. The equivalent saw for cutting wood is usually
called bow saw. Most hacksaws are hand saws with a C-
shaped frame that holds a blade under tension.
PCB ETCHING PROCESS

FERRIC CHLORIDE

Ferric Chloride (FeCl3) is the simplest & most

commonly used method for etching a PCB.
FLAT HEAD SLOT

FLAT HEAD SCREW DRIVER

A flat-head screwdriver is a screwdriver with a wedge-shaped
flat tip, used to tighten or loosen screws that have a straight,
linear notch in their heads. This screwdrivers primary function
is to drive slotted head screws.
PHILLIP HEAD SLOT

PHILLIPS SCREW DRIVER

The phillips head screwdriver (otherwise known as the
"cross-head screwdriver") is one of the most common variety
of screwdriver, and one of the most popular hardware tools
today.  It is recognizable by its cross or + shape, in contrast
with the flat head of a typical screwdriver.
FLAT

HALF ROUND

ROUND

TRIANGULAR

FILE
A file is a tool used to remove fine amounts of material from a
work piece. Most are hand tools, made of a case hardened
steel bar of rectangular, square, triangular, or round cross-
section, with one or more surfaces cut with sharp, generally
parallel teeth.
MAGNIFYING GLASS
A magnifying glass lens is basically a convex lens that is
used to generate a magnified picture of an object.
DIAGONAL PLIER OR SIDE CUTTER
Diagonal pliers (or wire cutters or diagonal cutting pliers or
diagonal cutters or side cutting pliers) are pliers intended for
the cutting of wire (they are generally not used to grab or turn
anything). The plane defined by the cutting edges of the jaws
intersects the joint rivet at an angle or "on a diagonal",
LONG NOSE PLIERS
Long-nose pliers are a pair of pliers characterized by long,
tapering jaws of equal length. Use to grip small objects, reach
awkward places, holding wires, bend loops, and attach wires.
Work involving smaller gauge wire.
NEEDLE NOSE PLIER
Needle-nose pliers (also known as pointy-nose pliers, long-
nose pliers, pinch-nose pliers or snipe-nose pliers) are both
cutting and holding pliers used by artisans, jewellery designers,
electricians, network engineers and other tradesmen to bend,
re-position and snip wire. categorizing needle-nose pliers as
having narrower jaws.
LINEMAN PLIERS
Lineman pliers, also known as linesman pliers or linesman's
pliers, are a type of combination pliers used by electricians,
artisans, and other tradesmen and women for the purpose of
bending, gripping, twisting, and cutting cable and wire. They
feature reinforced pincers or jaws, as well as insulated
handles.
UTILITY KNIFE OR CUTTER BLADE
A utility knife is a knife used for general or utility purposes
within the construction and trade industries. The utility knife
usually features retractable and/or replaceable blades made
of either die-cast metal or moulded plastic.
CLAW

CLAW HAMMER
A claw hammer is a tool primarily used for hitting nails into, or
extracting nails from, some other object. Generally, a claw
hammer is associated with woodworking but is not limited to
use with wood products. A hammer with one end of the head
forked and curved like a claw, used for pulling nails.
PORTABLE MINI DRILL
a small portable drilling machine resembling a breast drill but
designed to be held and operated by hand. A primitive drill
consisting of a shaft carrying a point of stone, bone, shell, or
metal and revolved usually by the palms of the hands.
PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD (PCB)
A printed circuit board (PCB) mechanically supports and
electrically connects electronic components or electrical
components using conductive tracks, pads and other features
etched from one or more sheet layers of copper laminated
onto and/or between sheet layers of a non-conductive
substrate.
CLEANING BRUSH OR ESD BRUSHES (ESD) Electro Static Discharge)
Cleaning Brushes. Our durable and easily maintained ESD
brushes have plastic bristles that are either conductive or
static dissipative. Used within a static controlled area,
the brushes are designed to dust PCBs and other static
sensitive items that require particles removed safely.
