IMPACT OF JET
APPARATUS
When a jet of water strikes a
surface, its velocity (and
hence its momentum) is
changed. The force exerted
by the surface on the jet is
then obtained by applying
Newton's Second Law, i.e. the
force normal to the surface is
equal to the rate of change of
momentum, or change of
momentum per second,
normal to the surface.

WORKING OF JET
APPARATUS

•The working principle of a jet apparatus

is based on the exchange of the mechanical
energies of two flows of matter as the flows
are mixed. The flow with higher pressure is
called the working fluid flow. A jet apparatus
consists of a nozzle, inlet and mixing chambers,
and a diffuser.
