Background & Purpose
Conservation Area And Tourist Destination
It is demanded to be able to maintain the quality
of its environment including solid waste
management

Existing Condition of MSW

The percentage of solid waste handling on
Wangi-wangi Island as an urban area has only
reached 57%
Wangi-wangi

GAP of the National Target

There is still a gap of 23% of the
SULAWESI national solid waste management
Kaledupa target of 80% in 2025

MSW Planning and Design

availability of facilities, human
resources and operational costs

Background & Purpose

The Purpose of this research are:

To provide alternatives and comparisons related to solid

waste management systems to be more effective and
efficient.

To improve waste management services in Wangi-wangi

island from 57% to 80%
Methodology
surveying the existing transportation patterns
and routes

analyzing the alternative waste transportation

patterns by considering the effectiveness

choosing the shortest route with the

minimum obstacle possibility by using GIS

calculating and comparing the cost of

solid waste transportations before and after the
transformation
Result & Discussion
1 Analysis of the existing condition of
transporting waste The route was circuitous, the location of
placing the garbage storage was
irregular and unplanned

The maximum rit per day (Nd) is 2 rit.

the type of storage was open storage. It is

not in accordance with the standard of
technical, health and aesthetic
Truck Garage

There were also solid waste disposal

points littered without any storage
Record time and duration of the DT 3460 XY truck route
Duration Maximum total trips perday (Nd) use the following equation

Result & Discussion
2 Application of indirect transportation patterns as an alternative choices by using the
transport station
1B
It is divided into 5 zones, based on the estimated waste generation and
1A adjusted to the number of waste collection and transport facilities.
Zone 1 (Truck 1) (Waha-> Koroeonowa ->Waelumu ->Waetuno ->Patuno -> Longa ->
Matahora)
Zone 2 (truck 2) (Wapiapia-> Sombu ->Wandoka Utara->Wandoka ->Wandoka Selatan ->

2A Zone 4 (Truck 4) (Mandati III-> Numana-> Mola Bahari-> Mola Utara-> Mola Samaturu ->
5A Mola Selatan -> Mola Nelayan Bakti)

3 “Before and after” cost comparation

compare the rupiah/ton cost of solid waste on the DT 3460 XY

truck pattern and route before and after the transformation

Item Unit Before After

A. Total operational costs of Rp/year 123.653.714 114.567.143
transportation
Fuel costs Rp/year 11.653.714 14.567.143
Driver and crew salary costs Rp/year 42.000.000 30.000.000
Truck depreciation costs Rp/year 50.000.000 50.000.000
Truck maintenance costs Rp/year 20.000.000 20.000.000
B. Total weight of solid waste Ton/year 2654 3.640
transported
Total cost of transporting solid waste Rp/ton 46.596 31.475
Transportation
(A/B) costs per ton of waste after changing the pattern and
route have decreased from 46,596 to 31,475 Rupiah /
ton.
Conclussion
The application of new patterns and routes
has several advantages both technically and
aesthetically.

Transforming the pattern and route system

can improve waste management services in
Wakatobi from 57% to 100%.

The transforming of patterns and routes makes

transportation more efficient savings costs up
to 30%.
