REWINDIND OF A SINGLE PHASE SQUIRREL

CAGE INDUCTION MOTOR

Prepared by :

Target Of The Project

 Learn how to rewind a single phase motors.

 The main purpose of rewinding a single phase motor is When the performance of motor begins to
deteriorate, you must make a complicated choice: either replace the motor entirely or prolong the life
of the motor with “rewinding” techniques.
 When the motor breaks and it is in good condition and is only a few years old, then you might be able
to save considerable costs by rewinding your motor. Rewinding a motor may help you solve an
immediate problem and give you time to provide a complete replacement later.
The Completed Part Of The Project

 We have completed the theoretical part completely.

 The theoretical part consists of three chapters:
1st chapter : we covered in this chapter introduction about the single phase motors,
construction of it and how it works.
2nd chapter : we classified the motors in accordance with the methods of starting and
are usually referred to by names descriptive of these methods.
3rd chapter : causes of faults in single phase squirrel cage induction motor, which is the
subject covered by this chapter.
1st chapter

 Single-phase induction motors are most commonly used in many industrial applications.
These motors are suitable where constant speed control, self-starting and low maintenance
is required.
 The single phase motors are simple in construction, cheap in cost, reliable and easy to
repair and maintain.
 We know that for the working of any electrical motor whether its AC or DC motor, we
require two fluxes as the interaction of these two fluxes produced the required torque.
2nd chapter

 there are mainly five types of single-phase induction motor namely:

1-split phase motor.
2-capacitor start motor.
3-permanent capacitor motor.
4-capacitor start capacitor-run motor.
5-shaded pole motor.
3rd chapter

 Faults in induction motors can be categorized as follows:

(a) Electrical-related faults: Faults under this classification are unbalance supply
voltage or current, under or over voltage of current, earth fault, overload, inter-turn short-circuit fault, and
crawling.
(b) Mechanical-related faults: Faults under this classification are broken rotor bar, mass unbalance, air gap
eccentricity, bearing damage, rotor winding failure, and stator winding failure.
(c) Environmental-related faults: Ambient temperature as well as external moisture will affect the
performance of induction motor. Vibrations of machine, due to any reason such as installation defect,
foundation defect, etc. also, will affect the performance.
