Coca Cola bottling company uses continuous flow manufacturing (CFM). Continuous flow is

defined as the process the materials, either dry bulk or fluids that are being processed are

continuously in motion, undergoing chemical reactions or subject to mechanical or heat

treatment. Industries that manufacture goods such as paper, oil, and electricity use this structure.

train cars using a vacuum.

Molding Process:

Coca Cola The pellets are injected into a molding machine in which they are

Supply super heated into a mold to 550 F. The molding machine produces
Chain small test-tube “preforms”.

Molding Process:

Coca Cola Preforms are then heated again and expanded inside the bottle
Supply molds. The cooled bottles are then transported to the palletizer.;

Process then they stack the large pallets for shipment to the bottler.
Aluminum Cans

Raw Materials:

Coil Sheets

Coca Cola Molding Process:

Supply Each coil sheets are forces through a punch tool (die), which produce the

Chain cups .Base cups are forced through several more die punches, each progressively
Process smaller , which incrementally forms the body of the can.
Aluminum Cans

Molding Process:

Coca Cola Cans then go through a cleaning process to remove lubricant residues from the

Supply die machines. Next is some multiple phases of necking to shape the top opening

Glass Bottles

Raw Materials:

Coca Cola Sand/cullet mixture (70% Silica, 20% Cullet, 10%other minerals)

Supply Molding Process:

Chain The mixture is melted into molten glass in a large furnace and the molten glass is

Process cut into portioned “gobs”

Molding Process:

air into the gobs while entrapped in the mold. Bottles are transferred to a cooling machine via a

conveyor belt slowly cooled to avoid shattering which takes 1 hour from 1000C to 107 C. This bottles
Chain are then shipped to the bottler.

The major ingredients for Coca cola are the secret

Bottling Process : PET

A depalletizer unstacks pallets of PET bottles and the conveyor belt organizes the

Coca Cola bottles into single file. Bottles are sent to the filling room where they are pressurized

Supply and filled with soda ; then the bottle caps and labels are applied to the bottles then

Cans receive a blast of ionized air before the filling room and after the

Coca Cola contents are filled, a seamer affixes the lids on the cans and a gamma ray

Supply scan verifies the content level in each can .

In this stage, cans are currently at 36 C and needs to be warmer to avoid

Coca Cola condensation. Cans are passed through a warming bath allowing tha cans to

Supply reach a temperature of 82 C and are then airdried to remove external moisture.

Bottling Process : Glass

Glass bottles can be either newly produced or recycled. For recycling bottles,

of its products.
Ingredients in the Bottle

– Carbonated water – Phosphoric acid

– High fructose corn syrup – Caffeine

Pepsi – Caramel color – Citric acid
Manufacturing – Sugar – Natural flavors
Process
Phosphoric acid avoids molds and bacterial growth by delaying and gives the
beverage a pronounced flavor. A natural preservative, citric acid is used for
enhancing the beverage flavor and it also maintains the balance of sweetness.
More than 95% of the content is just carbonated water. It is carbon dioxide, which
gives the beverage its sparkling flavor. The reason for using carbon dioxide that it
is most suitable for making soft drinks because carbon dioxide is a non – toxic
and inert gas and most importantly it is less expensive and can be liquefied easily.

Meanwhile, the sugar is the second most abundant component found

Pepsi in the beverage. Used both as dry and liquid, it makes the beverage taste
Manufacturing sweet and is a very important component of the beverage as if there is no
Process sugar, there is no taste.
Ingredient Delivery

Flavor concentrates are shipped from special Pepsi cola

Pepsi manufacturing plants in heavy-duty, airtight containers. All igredients
Manufacturing and food products are stored in clean, sanitary area and items requiring
Process refrigeration are kept in temperature-controlled areas.
