Control and
coordination
Human brain is
protected by Cranial meninges include the following parts
skull Outer layer-Dura mater
and it Is covered Middle layer-Arachnoid
by carnial Inner layer-pia mater
meninges
Human brain is divided
in three major parts
Forebrain
Midbrain
Hindbrain
Forebrain
consists of
Cerebrum
It’s a major part of the human brain
It is divided into two parts
Right hemisphere
Left hemisphere
The hemisphere are connected by a tract of
nerve fibres called corpus callosum
Cerebral cortex
Area of Thalamus
It is the centre of sensory and motor
association signalling
Hypothalamus
Lies at the base of thalamus
Contains centres which control body
temperature , urge for eating and
drinking
• Frontal lobe-
Thinking,memory,behavior
and movement
• Temporal lope-Hearing,
learning and feelings
• Brain stem-Breathing heart
rate and temperature
• Parietal lobe-language and
touch
• Occipital lobe-Vision
• Cerebellum-Balance and
coordination
Midbrain
• Located between thalamus
and hypothalamus
• Cerebral aqueduct passes
through midbrain
• Function- processing of visual
auditory information
The hindbrain coordinates
functions that are fundamental to
survival, including respiratory
rhythm, motor activity, sleep, and
wakefulness
