EVERYBODY IS ALWAYS IN THE MIDDLE OF

SOMETHING
 PENGERTIAN
1. PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
2. PAST CONTINUOUS TENSE
3. FUTURE CONTINUOUS TENSE
 PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
• Tense ini digunakan untuk menyatakan kegiatan atau kejadian
yang sedang berlangsung sekarang. Biasanya dicirikan dengan
v-ing. Coba lihat contoh berikut ini. 

Gambar di atas, ada frasa yang ditebalkan. Nah, itulah yang menandakan
present continuous tense. 
• Udin, let’s go out. Everybody is staying outside. (Udin, ayo
keluar semua sedang berada diluar)
• Be quiet, please. I’m trying to concentrate. I’m
studying History for the test tomorrow. ( Tolong tenang. Saya
sedang mencoba konsetrasi. Saya sedang belajar pelajaran
sejarah untuk tes besuk)
Ada tiga kalimat present continuous tense yang bisa diidentifikasi
di atas. 
Lalu bagaimana rumusnya? 
Kalimat present continuous tense ini bisa dibagi menjadi 3 yakni
positive, negative, dan interrogative. Rumus sederhananya:
 (+) S + to be (am/is/are) + V-ing
Hanya saja yang perlu diperhatikan ialah penggunaan subjek
serta kata kerja bantu to be. 
 CONTOH
• She’s turning on the music loudly. ( She is )
• Everybody is staying outside
• I’m trying to concentrate. ( I am )
• I’m studying History for the test. (…… )
• She’s doing vaccination for the babies and small kids in my
neighbourhood. ( …. )
• He’s helping his father fixing the fence of his house. ( …. )
• Beni’s calling. ( ….. )
• I’m mixing the flour and the eggs for the pastry. ( … )
(-) Subject + to be (am/is/are) + not + V-ing
 CONTOH
• She’s not turning on the music loudly.
• Everybody is not staying outside
• I’m not trying to concentrate.
• I’m not studying History for the test.
• She’s not doing vaccination for the babies and small kids in my
neighbourhood.
• He’s not helping his father fixing the fence of his house.
• Beni’s not calling.
• I’m not mixing the flour and the eggs for the pastry.
(?) To be (am/is/are) + S + V-ing?
 CONTOH
• She’s turning on the music loudly.
• Everybody is staying outside
• I’m trying to concentrate.
• I’m studying History for the test.
• She’s doing vaccination for the babies and small kids in my
neighbourhood.

 Past Continuous Tense

• Past continuous tense adalah bentuk tense yang digunakan untuk

menyatakan kejadian yang sedang berlangsung atau terjadi di masa
lampau (past continuous). Sehingga apapun yang sedang kita lakukan
saat itu dapat diungkapkan dengan tense ini. Demikian pula dengan
keadaan atau kondisi kita, seperti:
• She was watching TV at 7 last night.
When we arrived, he was having a bath..
I was on the way home.
(+) Subjek + was / were + V1 + ing + complement
 CONTOH
• I was going to the football practice yesterday
• My mom and dad were attending a wedding party
• My brother was going out with his friends
