RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Establishment of Pinagturilan National High School


• The school was conceptualized in 1994 and started the school year in June 1995. The parents'
complaints about the distance of their children for sending off the school including the
expenses like allowance, boarding house, and the fare were the main reason for founding a
national high school in the community
SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT OF PINAGTURILAN NATIONAL
HIGH SCHOOL THROUGH THE YEARS (1995-2020)

• In June 1995, forty-five (45) students pioneered STCNHS- Annex (currently Pinagturilan National High School).
They were temporarily housed in Baclaran Elementary School, where a vacant classroom was found available.
Early months of 1996 when Mr. and Mrs, Astrero donated the land for the school site happy to have a school site
of their own, the parents with the partnership of local officials, collaboratively constructive makeshifts to
accommodate the fast-growing number of students. In 1999, three years after, concrete classrooms were built in
the area. It was the time when STCNHS- Annex was made known for being one of the most progressive annexes
in the province.
• In July 2004, STCNHS- Annex immediately evacuate the students and temporarily seat in at Pinagturilan
Elementary School, it was hard seeing the students and teachers back to zero due to the environmental factor.
Another plan was formed because of the situation the barangay council.
CONTRIBUTION OF PINAGTURILAN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

• Pinagturilan National High School is one of the four secondary schools in the
entire Municipality that delivers basic education not only for the children of
barangay Pinagturilan but also for its neighboring barangays of Dayap, Barahan,
Pag-asa, Ilvita, and Claudio Salgado. This is because of the geographical location
of the school that resulted in increasing enrolment of the School from 45 students
in 1995.
• The school provides jobs and opportunities by helping the jobless teachers and
out-of-school youth to have an education. It simply indicates with the statement of
(Chambers, 2015) according to him, “the schools also benefit the communities by
employing teachers who would otherwise be without jobs and income”.
CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED OF PINAGTURILAN NATIONAL
HIGH SCHOOL AND THE COPING MECHANISM

• Pinagturilan National High School encountered problems right after the establishment of the
school. Lack of classrooms and facilities is one of the trials that the institution was
encountered, but because of the perseverance and dedication of students and teachers, they
made a way which they temporarily seat in with the primary school in Baclaran.
• One of the biggest challenges that Pinagturilan National High School faced was the
relocation of the school due to the noticed steep slope of the mountain at the back of the school
building.
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
Summary of Findings
1. Establishment of Pinagturilan National High School
Pinagturilan National High School was a former extension of Sta. Cruz National High School
(STCNHS) - Main and was conceptualized after the complaint of the parents regarding the distance
factor. With the help of Parent, Teacher, Community Association (PTCA), Barangay council Officials,
and LGU, finally, Sta. Cruz National High School- Annex currently Pinagturilan National High School
was established in 1995.
2. Significant development of Pinagturilan National High School through the years (1995-2020)
Pinagturilan National High School has a lot of development in terms of physical facilities. Through
the years, as the number of students increased the number of teachers and buildings also increased.
Among the developments and progress of Pinagturilan National High School are the establishments of
covered courts, canteens, stages, and the existence of computers, laboratories, and other facilities. In all
of this, the significant development of Pinagturilan National High School was from being an extension
to an independent High School in the Municipality. This development was successful through the help
of PTCA, Barangay, LGU, and NGOs.
3. Contribution of Pinagturilan National High School
Pinagturilan National High School is one of the secondary schools in the entire Municipality
that delivers basic education not only in the community but also in the near barangay from
Pinagturilan because of the geographic location. Pinagturilan National High School also helps
jobless teachers who seek a teaching job position in Barangay Pinagturilan.
4. Challenges Encountered of Pinagturilan National High School and the Coping
Mechanism
There are a lot of challenges and struggles faced by the school, one of this is the lack of funds
which resulted in lack of classrooms and facilities during the first year of establishment of
Pinagturilan National High School, also they experienced the biggest trial which they were
relocated to another site and temporarily housed in the nearest elementary in Barangay
Pinagturilan. The latest challenge that the institution faced was the Covid-19 pandemic that affect
the whole world and change the educational system across the countries. However, these
challenges proved that Pinagturilan National High School was dedicated to providing education
not only in the community but in the entire Municipality that wants to study and earn High School
Diploma.
C • Pinagturilan National High School like other secondary schools in the country has a
unique history of Establishment with the help of parents, stakeholders, local officials,
O and NGOs.
N • Pinagturilan National High School like any other secondary school has a lot of
developments in terms of physical facilities like infrastructures, the number of
C teachers and students, and also the achievements of the school. These developments
L were implemented also through the assistance of parents, stakeholders, local officials,
and NGOs.
U • Pinagturilan National High School like any other school helps the community in
S providing basic education n by not spending much and going far just to earn a High
School Degree.
I • Pinagturilan National High School like any other developing school struggled and
O encountered many trials like lack of budget, lack of classrooms and facilities, social
and environmental factors, and the latest covid-19 pandemic with resourceful coping
N strategies.

E • Pinagturilan National High School must implement a greeter
C program, this will make the visitors feel more welcome. It will
O also allow the school to present a more friendly and personalized
M environment. Good first impressions are important. With
M friendly greeters at the door/gate, most visitors will come away

N • PTA and other school organizations should establish a strategic
D plan for the school's development such as campus beautification
A and a teacher-parent relationship.

I additional resources to prevent looming budget cuts for the
