II. Proposed Title: TAWID ILOG NA EDUKASYON

III. Rationale

Puray, Montalban, Rizal, stands as a community facing socio-economic

challenges, particularly affecting the educational opportunities available to its
children. The children in this community are often deprived of access to quality
education, leading to a cycle of poverty and limited opportunities. The project
proposal "Tawid Ilog na Edukasyon" seeks to meet the educational requirements of
disadvantaged children in the community of Puray, Montalban, Rizal. This effort is
intended to give critical learning opportunities for children aged 4 to 10 years old,
with a focus on core abilities such as basic phonemes or the phonetic alphabet,
writing, counting, and comprehension reading. By implementing this initiative, we
hope to bridge the educational gap and provide the next generation with the skills
they need for academic and personal development.

A substantial number of vulnerable families live in Puray, Montalban, Rizal,

and struggle to provide proper educational support for their children. Economic
problems and limited access to educational resources have maintained a cycle of

Graduate School Program

educational disadvantage, limiting the potential of these young brains. The project
"Tawid Ilog na Edukasyon" aims to intervene and interrupt this cycle by providing a
thorough educational curriculum adapted to the specific requirements of the children
in this neighborhood.

Basic phonemes or the phonetic alphabet are the building blocks of literacy
and language development. By introducing these fundamental concepts to the
children, we lay the groundwork for effective communication and comprehension,
empowering them to express themselves with confidence. Writing and reading with
comprehension are essential skills that unlock the doors to knowledge and
imagination. Through engaging activities and tailored learning materials, we aim to
cultivate a love for reading and writing, nurturing the children's cognitive abilities and
creativity. Additionally, proficiency in counting and basic arithmetic is crucial for
everyday life and future academic pursuits. By emphasizing numeracy skills, we
equip the children with the tools to navigate the world of numbers and problem-
solving, fostering a solid foundation for their academic journey.

The "Tawid Ilog na Edukasyon" project is based on the premise that every
kid, regardless of circumstance, deserves access to quality education. By investing
in these young learners' educational development, we are sowing the seeds for a
brighter future in which they can emerge as informed, empowered individuals who
contribute positively to their society and beyond. The project will not only convey
knowledge but will also develop in the children a sense of confidence, curiosity, and
resilience, preparing them to overcome obstacles and achieve their dreams.

The "Tawid Ilog na Edukasyon" project proposal is an important step toward

providing the vulnerable children of Puray, Montalban, Rizal with the educational
support they deserve. We are creating a strong educational foundation for these
children's future by focusing on basic phonemes, writing, counting, and reading with
understanding. Through this program, we seek to generate a positive ripple effect in
which education becomes a beacon of hope and opportunity for the entire
community. "Tawid Ilog na Edukasyon" is more than a project; it is a commitment to

releasing every child's potential and creating a brighter future for Puray, Montalban,
Rizal.

IV. Objectives

The children of Puray, Montalban Rizal are greatly affected by its socio-
economic status that leads to deprivation of quality education, they are often
neglected and lack support from their own family and community.

The Objectives of our project proposal is:

To identify the educational requirements of the disadvantaged children in

Puray, Montalban Rizal;

To provide learning opportunities to children aged 4-10 that will focus on the
basic knowledge skills (literacy and numeracy).

To facilitate the learning process and give educational support by

providing materials that will develop, equip and encourage the child’s development.

V. Methodology

The purpose of this project proposal is to support the community. For

example, in Puray, Montalban, there is a remote area that lacks many necessities,
including school supplies, the Internet, and financial support, because it is too far
from the actual Montalban community. Puray has these issues: most kids are
compelled to give up their education in order to assist their parents in their jobs. The
second reason is that the children have to travel a far distance to get to school; they
have to cross a river, ascend a mountain, and arrive at school without supplies like
food or study aids.

Sources of Information

As students who wish to assist, we have learned about these issues from a
classmate who has experience of the struggles faced by young people in the Puray,
Montalban area. We want to go and support and assist them in their studies by
giving them school supplies, even in the most basic way possible, we will also impart
the value of education to them.

It is extremely difficult to spread knowledge throughout the Philippines,

particularly in isolated places like Puray, Montalban. As a result, the government is
reexamining what needs to be improved or done in order to ensure that everyone
has access to enough assistance. This is especially true when it comes to
education, where it is crucial to give students with sufficient support from the local or
national government. How can this be accomplished so that Indigenous Peoples,
or IPs, are not excluded from or denied access to education, but are instead given
the chance to complete their education and make a significant contribution to their
families and communities.

Implementation

The project will be implemented, with the help and approval of local
government, by conducting summer lessons focusing on the basic literacy and
numeracy to children ages 4-10 years old. The proponents will visit the target area to
conduct the lessons. On the last day of the program, we will be giving school
supplies to the attendees, that they can use in the upcoming school year.

VI. Expected Outputs

The proponents will provide summer classes to the community of

Puray, Montalban Rizal.

Prior to the event, Proponents must submit a final program of activities,

games, food, and submit a list of volunteers/guests who will be attending, specifically
listing their name, age, and sex, and any other details at least one week prior to the

event to the barangay officials of Puray, Montalban Rizal.

The proponents are expected to behave professionally. This includes no alcoholic
beverages, illegal activities, swearing, inappropriate clothing or behavior, smoking
within the vicinity, and must be dressed in decency and modesty. No short shorts,
mini-skirts, spaghetti straps, low cut blouses, tight leggings without proper coverage,
inappropriate prints on t-shirts, promotion of drugs and alcohol, inappropriate words
or phrases, skull and crossbones, etc.

This project will start by giving a written consent of the parents whose children
will attend summer classes. After getting consent, the proponents shall administer a
diagnostic test to identify the students’ development areas as a basis for the
preparation of summer class.

The objective shall be based on students’ prior knowledge and help them to
gain satisfactory mastery of the learning competencies. It also aims to help, uplift,
and support those who are deprived of certain services and rights.

At the end of the summer classes the proponents will recognize all the
students and parents who participated the program, and will be given school
supplies.
