4 TYPES OF LICENCES

• Student Pilot License (SPL)


• Private Pilot License(PPL)
• Commercial Pilot License ( CPL)
• Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL)
STUDENT PILOT LICENSE (SPL)

• The candidate has to clear the oral exam in air regulations, navigation, meteorology and aircrafts and
engines for the issue of SPL.
• The candidate must be 16 years of age .
• Candidate should have a class 2 medical fitness certificate.
• Police security clearance shall be obtained for the issue of spl license.
• The holder of SPL shall only fly VFR flights.
• SPL holder cant carry passengers or pets.
• Flying has to be performed under the instructors supervision.
• Cross country flight is not permitted until 10 hours of solo has been completed.
PRIVATE PILOT LICENSE (PPL)

• Age requirement is 17 years.


• Class 2 medical certificate is required for issue of PPL license.
• The candidate has to complete a minimum of 45 hrs of flight time including a minimum of 24 hrs solo
flight time.
• The candidate must pass the examination for theoretical knowledge.
• The PPL holder cannot hire or engage in revenue earning flights.
• The candidate cannot fly IFR until valid IFR is possessed.
• PPL holder can act as PIC of an aeroplane which is a non commercial flight.
COMMERCIAL PILOT LICENSE (CPL)

• Minimum age should be 18 years.


• Class 1 medical certificate is required for issue of license.
• Minimum 200 hrs of flight time including a cross country flight at 300nm.
• The candidate should have minimum 100 hrs of solo.
• The candidate shall pass 5 exams conducted by DGCA that are regulations, navigation, meteorology ,
technical general and technical specific and 1 exam conducted by telecommunications that is the radio
telephony exam.
• The holder of CPL can take commercial flights, carry passengers and cargo.
• Holder of CPL can act as a pilot in command of any aeroplane carrying cargo and passengers.
AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT LICENSE ( ATPL)

• Minimum age requirement is 21 years.


• The candidate should have a valid class 1 medical.
• The candidate must have passed written and oral exams for ATPL conducted by DGCA.
• The candidate should have a minimum of 1500 hrs of flight time with a minimum of 500 hrs as a PIC.
• The ATPL holder can fly as a commander / captain of a commercial flight.
• The pilot should have a current IR rating.
