WHEN DOES POWER PLANT WORK ?

When the power cuts off from SEC or reached deadline witch is 13 KVA will take 10
sec for the generator to work at terminal and 50 second for the main power plant
the security devices probity will not shutdown because the UPS battery .

at begging all generator at power plant will work  after that two generator will be
enough to feed airport 1&3 or 2&4 .

*notes Most of the problems that occur are in the summer

will be enough for 19 days.
RMU

RMU or ring main unit is an electrical power distribution system, a ring main unit (RMU) is a
factory assembled, metal enclosed set of switchgear used at the load connection points of a ring-
type distribution network.

Work principle :

If we want to isolate area to work with electric devices we put RMU as a set point after the
workplace and shutdown RMU before the workplace then the RMU after the workplace then the
work place will be completely isolated.
WATER
PLANT
WATER PLANT
The water station at the airport contains three lines feeding the airport, and they have
certain colors, and each line has a specific guest
types of lines: -

1. Blue line: Dedicated to usable water

2. Red line: Dedicated to fighting fire
3. Green line: assigned when maintenance is done in the blue line or a
malfunction occurs
WATER PLANT
Types of pumps: -

1. Feed water pump

2. Raw water pump
3. Back wash water pump
4. Water booster pump
5. Fire water pump
WATER PLANT
Types of pumps: -
• Feed water pump: It works by pumping water into the sand filter. It pulls the
water from the tank, which is divided into two parts, usable and unusable. It
pulls from the unclean water and pushes it into the sand filter.
• Raw water pump: which is deals with the green line and it works to draw water
and push it from the truck directly and the water is not clean and then push it to
the filter in order to push the water to the clean tank
WATER PLANT
Types of pumps: -

• Back wash water pump: This pump ensures that the filter is clean and the water
coming out is clean and usable
• Water booster pump: This pump is connected to a tank filled with clean water
and works to draw water and push it to all airport facilities such as: (airport
administration - terminal - airport security - etc...)
WATER PLANT
Types of pumps: -

• Fire water pump: It is intended for when the temperature rises or a fire breaks
out. It works to open the safety valve in the sprinklers located in the ceiling or
the pumps in the streets that help the civil defense
Here there are four main pumps:-
1. Jockey pump
2. Electric fire pump 1
3. Electric fire pump 2
4. Diesel fire pump
WATER PLANT
Types of fire water pump : -

Here there are four main pumps:-

• Jockey pump: A jockey pump is a small pump connected to a fire sprinkler system
to maintain pressure in the sprinkler pipes. This is to ensure that if a fire-sprinkler
is activated, there will be a pressure drop, which will be sensed by the fire pumps
automatic controller, which will cause the fire pump to start, It operates at an
initial pressure of 100 psi to 110 psi and then turns off automatically
WATER PLANT
Types of fire water pump : -

Here there are four main pumps:-

• Electric fire pump 1: At first, (electric fire pump 1) is turned on at an initial
pressure of 75 psi to a pressure of 100 psi, and then it turns off automatically, It
works when the auxiliary pump is unable to raise the pressure to the required
level and if it is started, the auxiliary pump stops working.
WATER PLANT
Types of fire water pump : -

Here there are four main pumps:-

• Electric fire pump 2: Then (electric fire pump 2) is started at an initial pressure of
45 psi to a pressure of 75 psi and then automatically disconnects, and the second
pump works when the first main pump is unable to raise the pressure to the
required level and the two pumps operate simultaneously.
WATER PLANT
Types of fire water pump : -

Here there are four main pumps:-

• Diesel fire pump: Then in the end, a backup pump (diesel fire pump) is operated
at an initial pressure of 35 psi to a pressure of 45 psi and then automatically
disconnects, and it works when the required pressure drops at the time of the
power outage and there is a special tank filled with diesel to feed the backup
pump.
WATER PLANT
What are the advantages of vertical and horizontal pumps?

1- The possibility of raising the pressure in the pumps to high numbers

2- Easy for maintenance
3- You don't need a big place to work
CHILLER SYSTEM
CHILLER SYSTEM:
-What is the Chiller
-Type of chiller system
-Components of chiller system
-Operation of chiller system
-Primitive maintenance and Troubleshooting
WHAT IS THE CHILLER
CHILLER IS A MACHINE WHICH IS USED TO GENERATE
COOL WATER BY CIRCULATING HEAT-ABSORBING A
REFRIGERANT THROUGH A SERIES OF MECHANISMS
THROUGH WHICH THE HEAT IS RELEASED, TO PROVIDE
AIR CONDITIONING IN THE BUILDING.
TYPE OF CHILLER SYSTEM

• There are two common types of chillers:

• a-Air cooled chiller
• b- Water cooled chiller
a. Air cooled chiller:
• in an air-cooled chiller, we use fans to transfer the heat from the condenser to change
the state refrigerant from a hot vapor to a cool liquid.

a. Water cooled chiller:

• in a water-cooled chiller, we use cooled water from the cooling tower to transfer the
heat from the condenser to change the state of refrigerant from a hot vapor to a cool
liquid.
WATER COOLED CHILLER AIR COOLED CHILLER
COMPONENTS OF CHILLER
SYSTEM
COMPRESSOR:
IS USED TO PUSH THE REFRIGERANT GAS INTO CONDENSER. THE REFRIGERANT
WILL LEAVE AS A HIGH PRESSURE, HIGH TEMPERATURE, SUPER-HEATED VAPOR.

CONDENSER:
TUBES HAVE MANY LOOPS USED TO COOLING THE REFRIGERANT BY FANS. THE
REFRIGERANT WILL LEAVE THE CONDENSER AS HIGH PRESSURE, MEDIUM
TEMPERATURE, SATURATED LIQUID.

EXPANSION VALVE:
IS USED TO REDUCE THE PRESSURE AND TO CONTROL HOW MUCH
REFRIGERANT FLOWS INTO THE EVAPORATOR TO MAKE THE LEAVING
REFRIGERANT FROM THE EVAPORATOR IN THE VAPOR STATE.

EVAPORATOR:
IT IS A CYLINDER USED TO TRANSFER THE HEAT FROM THE WATER THAT
COMES FROM AHU TO THE REFRIGERANT.

OPERATION OF CHILLER SYSTEM
THE OPERATION STARTS WHEN THE COMPRESSOR PUSHES
THE REFRIGERANT VAPOR INTO THE CONDENSER TO ABSORB
THE HEAT BY FANS AND CHANGE THE STATE OF THE
REFRIGERANT TO THE LIQUID THEN REFRIGERANT LIQUID
ENTER INTO THE EXPANSION VALVE THEN MOVE TO THE
EVAPORATOR, THE EXPANSION VALVE USED TO REDUCE THE
PRESSURE AND CONTROL HOW MUCH REFRIGERANT FLOW
INTO THE EVAPORATOR TO MAKE THE LEAVING
REFRIGERANT FROM EVAPORATOR AS VAPOR.
THE EVAPORATOR WORKS AS HEAT EXCHANGER TO TRANSFER THE
HEAT FROM THE WATER TO THE REFRIGERANT. WHEN THE WATER
BE COOLED THERE IS PUMP CALLED SECONDARY PUMP USED TO
PUSH THE WATER TO THE AHU TO COOLING AIR INSIDE THE AHU.
INSIDE THE AHU THERE IS A SUPPLY FAN USED TO PUSH THE COOL
AIR TO THE FACILITIES.

AHU: AIR HANDLING UNIT IS A LARGE BOX INSIDE THE BOX HAVE:
AIRBAG FILTER, ALUMINUM FILTER, COOLING COIL, MOTOR, SUPPLY
FAN.
PRIMITIVE MAINTENANCE
-REPLACE THE OIL FILTER, DRYER FILTER
-REPLACE THE MECHANICAL SEAL
-CHANGE COMPRESSOR OIL
-CHANGE BEARINGS OIL
-CLEAN THE CONDENSER
-CLEAN THE FAN
TROUBLESHOOTING
-IF YOU HAVE HIGH PRESSURE DISCHARGE:
CHECK OF THE CONDENSER IF IT IS DIRTY OR NOT.
CHECK OF THE CONDENSER FANS TO KNOW IF THEY RUNNING OR NOT.

- IF YOU HAVE LOW PRESSURE DISCHARGE:

CHECK OF THE SUCTION VALVE IS OPEN.
CHECK OF THE EVAPORATOR IF IT IS DIRTY OR NOT.
- IF YOU HAVE HIGH PRESSURE SUCTION:
CHECK OF THE EXPANSION VALVE IF THERE IS OVERFEEDING REFRIGERANT
AND ADJUST SUPERHEAT SETPOINT.
CHECK FOR EXCESSIVE LOAD AND TRY TO REDUCE THE COOLING LOAD.

-IF YOU HAVE LOW PRESSURE SUCTION:

CHECK IF THE EXPANSION VALVE IS BLOCKED OR NOT IF IT IS BLOCKED YOU
NEED TO CLEAN OR REPLACE THE EXPANSION VALVE.

CHECK IF THERE IS LEAK IN CONDENSER OR EVAPORATOR TUBE.

TERMINAL
X-RAY:
IT CONSISTS OF 2 X-RAY GENERATORS, 8 SENSORS, A COMPUTER
WITH A LINUX SYSTEM AND A TRANSMISSION BELT, AS THE
TRANSMISSION BELT STOPS DIRECTLY WHEN THERE IS SOMETHING
SUSPICIOUS AND IS SHOWN ON THE SCREEN.
HAND HELD CAN BE USED FOR MANUAL DETECTION
WALK THROUGH:
IT HAS METAL DETECTION TECHNOLOGY THROUGH BOTH SIDES,
THE SENSITIVITY OF THE PASSENGER GATE IS 65 AND THE STAFF
GATE IS 50.
THE MAINTENANCE PROCESS TAKES PLACE ON A WEEKLY BASIS, TO
ENSURE THAT THERE IS NOTHING STUCK ON THE BELT
BAGGING CONVEYOR SYSTEM :
THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF BAGGAGE CONVEYORS:
1- ARRIVAL
IT IS A BELT CONSISTING OF A BOARD, WITH EACH PLATE UNDER IT
(ROLLER BEARINGS) THAT MAKE THE BELT MOVE SMOOTHLY.
THERE IS A SENSOR AT THE (MOTOR) THAT GIVES A SIGNAL TO WALK TO
WORK WHEN THERE IS LUGGAGE AND TO STOP WHEN THERE IS NO
LUGGAGE.
THERE IS AN EMERGENCY BUTTON THAT CAN BE USED BY PASSENGERS IN
THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY TO STOP TRAFFIC.
2- DEPARTMENT
THIS TYPE IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM THE FIRST ONE. IT CONSISTS OF
FOUR BELTS SEPARATED FROM EACH OTHER. EACH BELT HAS AN INDEPENDENT
SENSOR TO SEND A SIGNAL TO THE MOTOR TO WORK OR STOP. THE END OF EACH
BELT IS SENSITIVE TO SAFETY. IT IS USED IF A PIECE IS STUCK AT THE END OF THE
BELT, IT STOPS THE WORK OF THE BELT IMMEDIATELY.
WALKING SPEED CAN BE CONTROLLED AND ALL BELTS CAN BE CONTROLLED
MANUALLY VIA THE (CONTROL PANEL(
IT CONTAINS THE ON AND OFF BUTTONS FOR EACH BELT
THIS BELT IS EQUIPPED WITH AN X-RAY DEVICE THAT IS USED TO DETECT
LUGGAGE.
SLIDING DOOR :
CONSISTS OF :
( MECHANICAL ) AND ( ELECTRICAL ) AND ( ELECTRONIC )
THE DOOR IS ENTRY AND EXIT AND THERE IS A DOOR TO ENTER ONLY OR EXIT
ONLY.
EACH DOOR INSTALLED ABOVE IS SENSITIVE. THE SENSOR SENDS A SIGNAL TO
THE MECHANISM TO OPEN THE DOOR, AND AUTOMATICALLY IF THERE IS NO
PERSON IN FRONT OF THE DOOR FOR 3 TO 5 SECONDS, THE DOOR CLOSES.

THE MECHANICS CONSIST OF:
1 - MOTOR WITH GEARBOX REDUCER
2 - PROGRAMMING
3 - POWER SUPPLY
4 - BELT
BELT: HERE THE MAIN PART IS A BELT SIMILAR TO THE CAR’S RUNNING
THROUGH WHICH THE DOOR IS OPENED AND CLOSED, AND IT CONNECTS THE
MOTOR AND DOORS.
FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEM:
 WATER SPRINKLERS EACH SPRINKLER CONTAINS A PIECE OF GLASS
OF ORANGE COLOR (GLASS BULB).
 WHEN A FIRE OCCURS AND THE TEMPERATURE REACHES 57 C OR
MORE, THE GLASS PIECE BREAKS, ALLOWING THE WATER TO SPREAD
FROM THE FIREFIGHTING PUMPS FROM THE WATER STATION. ALL
SPRINKLERS HAVE EQUAL PRESSURE
 SPRINKLERS HAVE A STAR-LIKE SHAPE CALLED A DEFLECTOR.
 THIS SHAPE HELPS THE SPREAD OF WATER.
