RADIO RECEIVER
RADIO RECEIVER

• An electronic device that receives radio waves and converts

the information carried by them to a usable form.

• It is used with an antenna.

• Radio works by transmitting and receiving electromagnetic

waves. The radio signal is an electronic current moving back
and forth very quickly. A transmitter radiates this field outward
via an antenna a receiver then picks up the field and
translates it to the sounds heard through the radio.
TYPES OF RADIO RECEIVER

• The most common types of receiver are administrative

receiver, fixed charge receiver Law of Property Act receiver
court appointed receiver.

• Tuned radio frequency, TRF : This type of radio receiver was

one of the first that was used. ...

• Regenerative receiver: The regenerative radio receiver

significantly improved the levels of gain and selectivity
obtainable.
FUNCTIONS OF RADIO RECEIVER

• The radio receivers receive the incoming modulated carrier

by the receiving antennas.

• Then they select the wanted signal from the carrier and
reject the unwanted signals and noise.
CHARACTERISTICS

• The basic performance characteristics of a radio receiver

are sensitivity, selectivity, and stability.

•  Sensitivity is the capability of receiving weak radio signals,

where signal strength may be as low as 10–19 watt for a signal
whose frequency bandwidth is approximately 1 kilohertz.
TRANSMITTER AND RECEIVER

• A transmitter is a necessary component of all electronic

devices such as cell phones, television stations, ships.

• They are also used for navigation purposes.

• Receiver is an electronic device that receives signals and radio

waves that are transmitted by the transmitter.
