Step-2 PROBLEM SELECTION CRITERIA
• The demand of RC tyres is high for Depots. Tyre production is affected for the
reasons given below:
 Heavy accumulation of Worn Smooth tyres due to Camber
 Chipping of tyres at Bead, Chipping of tyres on Tread, Tyre through cut, Ply
separation due to under inflation, patch loose etc..
 Band ply cut after curing etc…
 Because of frequent failure of tyres at depots, the desired Tyre mileage is not
achieved. Resulting high loss of Revenue and Man power losses.

 Accumulation of scrap tyres occupied more space in the Work Shop. The
place is could not able to utilize for other works.

 In adequate of RC tyres supplies from Work Shop to the Depots.

Step 8: DEVELOPMENT OF SOLUTION 51

1. After inspection of the tyre on inspection SPREADER machine,


Rasping done on the tyre with cup rasp and slow trim was done in
injury area by circular rasp. Remove EXPOSED WIRES, loose
rubber with the help of Special tools MOOSRUM stone rasp.
2. Clean with Rubomatic Solvent.
3. Apply the BLACK VULCANISING CEMENT and keep at for day
up to 10 minutes and re-apply BVC and dry for 30 minutes.
4. Apply the High Bounding Gum.
5. Sent for Electrical Curing Chamber.
6. After receiving from Curing Chamber, Buffing were carried out by
keeping required Arc.

7. Again clean with Rubomatic Solvent.

8. Once again apply Black Vulcanising Cement and dry it up.

9. Fitment of Tread Rubber on Building Machine with


Hydrometric power load.

10.Finally sent at for Electrical Curing chamber for Curing.

11.Inspect the tyres after curing and send back to depots.

• We implemented our Trail solution on a demo tyres to increase to


increase the mileage and sent to depots on experiment basis.

• Higher officials and Quality Incharge have seen and appreciated


this solution.

• We were provided with required drawings and process sheets as


per this solution.

Cost of retrieval of RC & REPAIR including man power = Rs. 3,452.21/-

Cost saved on one Tyre (13000 – 3452.21) = Rs.9,547/-

Total expenditure saved on 52 tyres


In one month (52 x 9,547) = Rs. 4,96,444/-

Savings per Annum (Year): = Rs. 59,57,328 /-
