THE IMPACT OF
CLIMATE CHANGE
THE IMPACT OF CLIMATE
CHANGE
Natural events and human activities are believed to be main contributors to such increases
in average global temperatures. The climate change, caused by rising emissions of carbon
dioxide from vehicles, factories and power stations, will not only effects the atmosphere and the
sea but also will alter the geology of the Earth. This may cause huge changes to our civilization,
both positive and negative, but the total impact on our society is currently very uncertain.

Issues, concerns, and problems

 Climate change causes more frequent and intense drought, storms, heat waves. Rising sea
levels, melting glaciers and warming oceans can directly harm animals, destroy the places they
live and wreck havoc on people's livelihoods and communities.
Why do we need to conduct this research?
• For us to be aware of what may happen in the future. This research helps us to understand how
climate change affect the lives of the people, so that we can prepare for the future. Conducting
this research also helps us to know more about climate change.

According to the World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report 2021, the failure to mitigate
and adapt to climate change is “the most impactful” risk facing communities worldwide—ahead
of even weapons of mass destruction and water crises. Blame its cascading effects: As climate
change transforms global ecosystems, it affects everything from the places we live to the water
we drink to the air we breathe.
THE EFFECTS OF
BLENDED LEARNING
TO STEM STUDENTS
THE EFFECTS OF BLENDED
LEARNING TO STEM STUDENTS
According to Wikipedia, Blended learning is an approach to education that combines online
educational materials and opportunities for interaction online with traditional place-based
classroom methods. Because it combines the two advantages of instructional models, blended
learning has positive impact to the learning process. Some researchers stated that blended
learning can enhance students' learning outcomes, improve students' motivation, and it is
effective way for achieving learning objectives. As any other method, blended learning has its
bright and dark sides. The combination of self-paced education and face-to-face training can be
beneficial, but only when wisely applied. For some of them, this modern educational
environment can be motivational, while the others feel confused about it. However, we believe
that the disadvantages of this strategy are more than overcomeable. If teachers keep an eye on
their students and provide strong support to them, more quality courses will be delivered
Issues, concerns, and problems
Some significant challenges to blended learning models include the expense of technology,
inadequate training, technological issues, the need to adapt content for blended learning,
decreased motivation, and weakened relationships between students and teachers. And these
challenges are:
• Technology is Expensive. Blended learning usually requires that all students and teachers have
a computer, tablet, or laptop. Needless to say, this is expensive to implement and maintain.
• self-studying
• poor internet connection
• lack of sleep and time to answer all the modules due to the great number of activities.
• distractions, and lack of focus.
Why do we need to conduct this research?
• We need to conduct a research about the effects of blended learning to stem students because,
it can help us to know, what are the other students feel or experiencing about the said topic, it
can answer the question, do they experiencing the same struggles or benefit that I experiencing
at this moment? Are they enjoying this new way of learning?

Review Related Literature

According to DepEd, Blended Learning refers to “face-to-face with any or a mix of online
distance learning, modular distance learning, and TV/Radio-based Instruction.” It is designed to
enable the schools to “limit face-to-face learning, ensure social distancing, and decrease the
volume of people outside the home at any given time.”
THE IMPORTANCE
OF CALCULUS FOR
STEM STUDENTS
THE IMPORTANCE OF CALCULUS
FOR STEM STUDENTS
Calculus prepares students for higher-level sciences, like physics, chemistry, genetics and
engineering courses. Calculus is an important and a gateway course to prepare students for
higher-level science, engineering and math courses (STEM). Calculus is difficult because all the
concepts are abstract and learning these concepts in the traditional ways is always boring to
most students. The traditional method of teaching is teacher-orientated presenting the theories in
a lecture style manner and reinforcing the concepts by doing homework word problems. It is
understanding that majority of students who have problems with calculus lacks the basic
knowledge of algebraic simplifications (factoring) of functions followed by visualization of the
process.
Issues, concerns, and problems
• Lack of multi-step problem solving skills
• Lack of confidence
• Overly Procedural thinking.
• Lack of ability to translate mathematical meaning to real-world meaning.

Why do we need to conduct this research?

• We need to conduct a research about the importance of calculus for stem students because, it
can help to identify the issues, cause identification, and identifying potential solutions.

According to Professor Mayya Tokman,“Calculus is an important gateway to many STEM
majors. You need the skills you learn in calculus for a variety of disciplines. You need it to
model phenomena we see in the world around us and describe those phenomena using
mathematical tools, but calculus also helps you become a critical thinker and problem solver.”
