COURSE DESCRIPTION
• This course is concerned with the theories and principles of
microeconomics which attempt to analyze how households,
firms and government behave and make economic decisions
and how they interact in specific markets. The course deals
with price theory, market, demand and supply, consumer
behavior, production process, cost minimization, profit
maximization, market failure, government intervention, and
other microeconomic theories and variables with emphasis on
the use of economic models such as tables, graphs, and
equation for a comprehensive economic analysis.

Module 3: Concept of Elasticity
Module 4: Consumer Choice and Utility

Grading Criteria:
To pass this course, one must accumulate at least 75
points through the course requirements discussed
above. The maximum points that a student can obtain
through each requirement are shown below:

LO1-LO5 MCO1: News report critique: One week
Students will find and read three newspaper op-eds (local or before the end
international) discussing globalization. They will write 50- of the course
word summaries of each op-ed, identifying what the
underlying definitions of globalization the op-ed writers use.
LO6-7 MCO2: Personal Visual Artwork
Students will engage in a free association exercise of ideas
they associate with “globalization” by creating their own
works of visual art and show it through an art exhibit.
MCO3: Group Performing Artwork
Students will conduct a performance artwork (dance, drama,
singing, etc.) that highlights the issues/problems associated
with globalization in the country.
LO8-LO11 MCO4: Research Paper.
Students will begin writing a 500-word proposal for their
final research paper.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Aside from the major course outputs stated above, the
students must attend the class regularly, must participate
actively the online class activity and class discussions. Lastly,
the students must have a copy of CHED required
hand-out/book on The Contemporary World.
