KAPA MALONG-MALONG
 Kappa Malong-Malong is a Life-Cycle folk dance that
originated in Mindanao. The Kappa Malong-Malong is a
cultural dance in the Philippines influenced by Muslims.
The malong is a tubular garment, and the folk dance
essentially shows the many ways it can be worn. This
traditional dance in the Philippines is not only for women
though, but there is also a men’s version of the dance
since they wear malongs in different ways.
KAPA MALONG-MALONG
 Malong functions as a cloth of life in the Filipino Muslim
culture. A newborn is wrapped in a malong, and, as the
child grows older, this piece of cloth becomes a part of
daily life. In death, the lifeless body is once again
wrapped in this significant piece.
 The malong is a sacred piece of clothing in the Muslim
culture. Dropping the malong on the floor is taboo. It
should be treated with the same respect as the
community that it represents. So be careful with your
malongs!
KAPA MALONG-MALONG
 Costume is not so vital in this dance
because the main attraction to this is the
malong.However, muslims are known for
their shiny and shimmering costumes that it
has a to have a touch of shimmering and
colorful design
 Its time signature is 2/4
Basic steps of kapa malong-malong includes:

 FOOT MOVEMENT: Step R foot sideward ,point L


foot forward (Right in front of the toes)
 ARM MOVEMENT: Simultaneous with foot : sway R
arm sideward, from downward to upward,
(Depending of the width of malong) Repeat it with
the L arm.
SINGKIL
 Singkilis a Festival dance originating from Lanao del
Sur,Mindanao is said to be a dance of Muslim royalty.To
the rhythmic clapping of bamboo poles,the rural dancers
weave expertly through crisscrossed bamboos,the ladies
dressed in elegant Muslim costumes waving great big
fans,the men flipping brightly colored handkerchiefts
right and left.
SINGKIL
 Legend has it that Singkil originated from the day
the diwatas (some from of nymph or fairy) played
a joke on Princes Gandingan as she was taking a
walk in the woods.The diwatas caused an
earthquake that made the trees tremble and the
rocks to roll and knock against each other nothing
daunted, Princes Gandingan skipped nimbly from
place to place and no tree or rock ever touched
her tiny feet.
SINGKIL
 Thedancers wearing solemn faces and maintaining a
dignified pose begin dancing at a slow pace which soon
progresses to a faster tempo.The clashing bamboos and
the whirling dancers form an unforgettable
kaleidoscope of color and sound that is fascinating to
the beholder.
 Theclapping of the bamboo poles furnishes the
rhythm. It is in 4/4 time.
Basic steps of singkil includes:
 StepR foot inside between bamboo poles, step
L foot close to R, step R foot outside the right
bamboo poles, tap L close to R foot

 StepL foot inside between bamboo poles, step R


foot close to L, step L foot outside the left
bamboo pole, tap R close to L foot
SAYAW SA BANGKO
The philippine folk dance sayaw sa bangko, a wedding
dance means bench danceThe Philippine folk dance Sayaw
sa Bangko (literally means Bench Dance originated in the
Lingayen and Pangasinan of the Pangapisan Tribe,
nowadays it is mostly performed during Town Fiestas.
The dance step is quite simple but making sure both dance
partners don't fall down is the hard part, as they perform
the dance on a narrow bench, hopping and inching and
exchanging places from one end of the bench to the other
side.
SAYAW SA BANGKO
 Itwas originally performed by newlyweds during
their wedding feast for their guests, the dance
showcase both bride and groom and how they
complement and help each other with the intricate
steps making sure they don't fall from the bench.
 costume is the common baro`t saya or camiso de
chino 
 Its Time signature is ¾
Basic steps of sayaw sa bangko includes:
 FOOT MOVEMENT: step your R foot’s heel
forward, then move it back. (Repeat it in the L
side)
 ARMMOVEMENT: Simultaneous with foot: move R
arm sideward, then L arm sideward while holding
each others hand
BULAKLAKAN
 The word "Bulaklakan" originated from the
native town of Bulakan. A festival dance
that the rural people of the area would all
gather and a various amount of impromptu
and unscripted festive dances that would
be performed as a form of relaxation.
 Itstime signature is ¾ in rythym like some
of the Spanish dances.
BULAKLAKAN
 Bulaklakan is a dance of floral garlands, dedicated to the
Virgin Maryduring the Roman Catholic celebration of their
holy week. It is performed widely duringthe month of early
May. “Bulaklakan” refers to green orchids and other
flowering plants.The town of Bulacan derived its name after
bulaklakan because of the natural floralgrowth in that area.
(Tagalog Regions) During the month of May, it is custom in
manyparts of the Philippines to celebrate the "Santa Cruz
de Mayo," a procession usuallyfollowed by a social gathering
in the house of the "Hermana Mayor."
BULAKLAKAN
 Thegirls in this dance wears filipiñana and each
hold a garland of leavesand flowers attached to a
wire, bamboo or rattan so that the garland will
arch when heldoverhead.
Basic steps of bulaklan includes:
 Swayright amd left 16 counts, pick flowers up(in
place)
 Sway right and left 8 counts, flowers up forward
 Sway right and left 2 counts, after that, turn to
your right.
 Sway right and left on your place
 Kneel down, turn left
