retrieving the transactions of an organisation
• Transaction system helps to conduct business such as payroll,

• McDonalds everyday sells a huge amount of hamburgers
• McDonalds should order raw materials from its supplier
• Each time McDonalds place an order with its supplier, a
transaction happens and the TPS records the relevant
information such as supplier name, address, the quality
of the items purchased and finally the invoice amount.
Decision Support System
• Aninformation system designed to help users reach a
decision when the decision making situation arises.
• DSS is used to model data and make quality decision
• DSSare usually computer application with a human
component
• They can shift through large amounts of data and pick
between the many choices and support the non – routine
decision.

• McDonalds management mainly uses DSS to
analyse the market and come up with a solution
to the problem
• They also use DSS in order to gain competitive
advantage over other fast food franchises by
analysing large amount of data and seeing what is
the best course of action needed in order to
ensure they are on top.
