Electrical Equipment

DEFINITION
The electrical equipment is a core system that
contributes to supply electrical energy coming
from the generators and distributed to the ship
through the main switchboard
FEEDS THE FOLLOWING SYSTEMS
Lighting systems

Power system
• Electric motors
 Pumps
 Compressors
 Fans
 Hydraulic systems
 Winches
• Loading system
Control systems
• Alarm system
• Equipment alarm system
 Main engine
 Generators

• Emergency starting air compressor
• Fire alarm
• Radar
• Ballast pump
The working principle is nothing more than a
current generator driven by a diesel engine,
the generating part consists of two
fundamental parts such as the stator, which is
the fixed part, where the winding is located,
and the rotor which is the generator core, the
alternating current generated by these
components, on board is usually 440V at a
frequency of 60 Hz, this is regulated by the
voltage regulator and carried to the main bus
bar through resistant cables, once on the bus
bar, which is part of the Main SwichBoard is
distributed to all Power, Control and Service
systems. The latter is fed after passing the
440 V current through a transformer that
reduces it to 220V, which is usually the
service current on board the ships.h
The electrical equipment of a ship comprises a
wide range of equipment such as electric
motors, navigation systems, control, power
and lighting that are installed on board to
facilitate the operation of ships, nowadays
they are modular systems, without which a
ship could hardly operate, these electrical
systems compensate the main system and the
emergency system
Pump

A hydraulic pump is a generating machine

that transforms the energy with which it
is driven (usually mechanical energy) into
the energy of the incompressible fluid
that it moves. The incompressible fluid
can be liquid or a mixture of liquids and
solids
The electric motor

The electric motor is a device

that converts electrical energy
into mechanical energy by means
of the action of the magnetic
fields generated in its coils. They
are rotating electrical machines
composed of a stator and a
rotor.

Converter

The function of an inverter is to change a DC input voltage to a

symmetrical AC output voltage, with the desired magnitude and
frequency. r the user or the designer. The inverters are used in a
wide variety of applications, from small power supplies for
computers, to industrial applications to control high power. The
inverters are also used to convert the direct current generated by
photovoltaic solar panels, accumulators or batteries, etc., into
alternating current and thus be able to be injected into the
electrical network or used in isolated electrical installations.
Amplifier

The electronic amplifier can mean either a type of electronic circuit or stage thereof in order to increase the intensity of the
current, the voltage or the power of the signal that is applied to its input; obtaining the increased signal at the exit. To amplify
the power it is necessary to obtain the energy from an external power source.
tachogenerator

A tachogenerator produces an output voltage

proportional to the rotational speed of the
motor shaft. The tachogenerator is an
electromagnetic sensor of variable

TRANSFORMЕRS

The transformer is a device that converts

electrical energy into an alternative voltage
level, into alternating energy of another voltage
level, based on the phenomenon of
electromagnetic induction. It consists of two coils
of conductive material, wound on a closed core of
ferromagnetic material, but electrically isolated
from each other
