A. Brief Introduction/
Background of the Study
• Technology-Mediated Affection in Long Distance
Relationship (LDR) of Grade 11 students at Olivarez
College Tagaytay during pandemic is a study that
determines the differences and challenges that
LDR’s couple experience. The Couples Coaching
Online (2021) stated that one of the circumstances
identified in this study is a lack of connection and
feeling isolated, which poses a significant threat to
LDR's ability to maintain a strong attachment
relationship.
B. Research Framework
• This study was supported by A Grounded Theory on
Conflict Management in Long-Distance
Relationships by Naz (2019), the mentioned theory
is related to the study because the said theory states
how a couple or person involved prepares to be in a
long-distance relationship where this theory also
highlights the problems that the LDR couple have
and how they are going to manage it (Naz, 2019).
C. Statement of the problem
• Our statement of the problem consists of one
question that portrays in their perception about
Long-distance Relationship during pandemic for
Grade 11 students at Olivarez College Tagaytay.

- What is the perception of Grade 11 students who

are in LDR situation in the midst of pandemic?
D. Scope and delimitations

• This study will primarily focus on student's

perception of their long-distance relationships
during the pandemic. Students should know
responsibilities in taking care of and maintaining a
relationship if it is long distant. This study will be
limited to the grade 11 students that were
experiencing long-distance relationships that from
the beginning of their relationship they haven’t seen
each other until now.
E. Significance of the Study

• A study about technology-mediated affection will

help people understand more about being in a long-
distance relationship. This study will also give
information on maintaining a strong and healthy
relationship even if they are miles away from each
other. They will be able to learn to have faith and
trust in their partners.
F. Methodology

1.Research Design
• The researchers are expected to look for Grade
11 students involved in long-distance
relationships from Olivarez College Tagaytay
during the pandemic. The study mainly focuses
on life experiences, which implies that it
focuses on "what" rather than "why" questions.
(Kim et al., 2017).
F. Methodology
2.Population and Sampling
• The participants of this study will be the Grade
11 Senior High School students that are involved
in long-distance relationships. Students will be
interviewed about the technology-mediated
affection in social interaction amidst the
pandemic of the participants. The sampling
technique that the researchers will use is the
Purposive Sampling Technique. Unlike random
sampling, non-probability methods such as
purposive sampling is not free from bias.
F. Methodology
3.Participants of the Study
• The participants of this study will be the Grade
11 Senior High School students that are involved
in long-distance relationships. Specifically, eight
couples of grade 11 students, one participant in
every couple, and haven't seen each other since
the start of their relationship. However, one of the
participants should be studying in Olivarez
College Tagaytay and their significant other can
be located somewhere else or both of them can be
studying in Olivarez College Tagaytay with the
exemption that they haven’t seen each other.
F. Methodology

4.Research instrument (description &

purpose)
• Interview will serve as the data gathering method
of the researchers. This strategy, together with
the grand-tour and follow-up questions, will
make it much easier for the researchers to gather
as much information as possible from the
participants. The respondents of the study will be
the students in Grade 11 of Olivarez College
Tagaytay who are in a long-distance relationship
during this pandemic.
F. Methodology
5. Validation of the instrument (if the instrument is self-
made; modified)
Grand Tour Question:
1. What can you say about your romantic relationship this pandemic?
Follow Up:
SOP #1: What is the perception of Grade 11 students who are in LDR situation
in the midst of pandemic?
1. Do you think entering this long-distance relationship is worth it?
2. Is it really a relationship if you don’t see each other?
3. Does a long-distance relationship court as a relationship?
4. What is your magic to make your relationship strong?
5. How do you know if he/she loved you in a long-distance relationship?
6. How do you handle the challenges/problems together in LDR situation?
7. What is one piece of advice you would tell someone about long-distance
relationship?
8. What are the effects and difficulties you encounter if your apart and haven’t
seen each other?
9. Do you think long distance partners can make their boyfriend/girlfriend feel
special in a long-distance relationship? If so, how?
F. Methodology
6. Data Gathering Procedure
• Students at Olivarez College Tagaytay during
Pandemic were interviewed via Google Meet.
The researchers were aware that confidentiality
and anonymity would be preserved during
interviews and field observations. The data
gathering instrument that the researchers will
use to gather the perceptions in the long-
distance relationship of Grade 11 students is an
online interview.
F. Methodology
7. Statistical Treatment of Data (for
quantitative study) / Data Analysis (for
qualitative study)
• After successfully obtaining the perception of random couples,
the researchers then proceeded to the process of analyzing. The
researchers will use the Thematic Analysis Method proposed
by Wa-Mbaleka in 2018. It is a method of analysis that
includes analyzing qualitative data. It is usually applied to a set
of texts, such as interview transcripts. The researcher closely
examined the data to identify common themes, topics, ideas,
and patterns of meaning that come up repeatedly. With
compliance to the thematic analysis method proposed by Wa-
Mbaleka, the data was properly analyzed by the researchers.
